Default Jimmy White documentary - ITV4

Anyone see this on Tuesday – probably still available on catch up.

Great documentary. I know we go on about Jimmy White every year when World Championships are on but man that was the first time I had seen that deciding frame, missed straight forward black since it actually happened – was too upset to see it again. He was six easy pots away from the title but pressure got to him.

And has there ever been a more feeble round of applause for a winner ?? Hendry daredmn’t even celebrate !! Dennis Taylor in commentary box “I’m pleased for Stephen Hendry but I could cry for this fellow here……”

I remember having a lump in my throat watching at the time and almost a tear – at the age of 22.

Jimmy still believes he can win it too. Would love to see it but good luck with that mate…….

I watched it. The White-Davis final in 1984 is what got me hooked on Snooker and Jimmy was my hero (never meet your heroes though ).

He looks like a big time bottle job the way he lost those finals but he obviously wasn't. Won everything else.

He was mine too after Higgins

Care to elaborate on the 'never meet' bit ??

The 14-8 and 17-17 finals must eat away at him ! I remember him missing a straight read for 15-8 and another down the rail for 15-10. Just wasnt meant to be

The miracle 69 break from Higgins probably prevented him from his first title too

I saw this too, good documentary.
Probably the main reason I got a snooker table as a kid was watching Jimmy White and The Nugget.
Snooker was massive back then and you knew nearly all the players involved.
Had some legendary drinking sessions with Alex Higgins and Ronnie Wood too, theres some mad stories in Woods autobiography of the shit they used to get up to ;-)

Nothing bad, i've been around him a few times, and have friends that knew/know him well, he was just a bit flash/arrogant that's all. But I guess all famous people get that. Basically everyone thinks he's a div.

Higgins makes Jimmy look like a choirboy

He was bang on the Coke back in the day which turns mildly annoying people into arrogant wankers ;-)

I use to watch Jimmy lose every year if it was not that spotty scot Hendry it was the scally Parrott. Hated it.
