Default Huggy- The "slightly" aggressive bear's legal problems.

Ok I'm not sure how many Klitschko fans are present on this site, hopefully some to even out the debate somewhat and hopefully there is somebody knowledgeable on official stuff around too..

I was disgusted with Wladimir's performance against Povetkin myself, even being a fan. Not with his win, I feel he dominated the Russian, but obviously with his excessive holding. This is nothing new for him to be sure, but I've always been one to make the excuses for him.

But THAT! That was too much!

What I want to know once and for all... IS IT LEGAL? So many ppl are claiming that Wladimir is cheating and his continual reign as dominant HW champion is only possible because he has the officials in his pocket.

But HOW? Were it illegal, surely there could be no dispute that Wladimir must be DQ'd. If it didn't occur in the Povetkin fight then it never could!

There must be something more to the story. Is it that despite all the accusations, Wladimir's excessive clinching is done in such a way that is considered borderline legal? Has he found a loophole in boxing that allows him to completely nullify the inside game?

    Please shed some light?

(Sigh) again, if the ref doesn't call it then it's not a foul

My favourite fighter Tommy Hearns would grab if his opponent got to close , that's what tall fighters with dodgy chins have always done.

    It's so heinous it's virtually a warcrime.

Ok we've established Wladimir got away with it so legally it was a clean win for Wlad, right I KNOW that. But under the rules of boxing, is the ref SUPPOSED to do something? Was the ref in error here and was Wlad's holding in fact illegal with respect to the rules (as opposed to the ref)

Someone said others like Hearns held, sure. Muhammad Ali was the champion wrestler until Wlad's latest outing. Ruiz held like an octopus. And so on. But I've never seen anything quite as bad as the fight with Povetkin.

I just want to know whether it is in fact illegal, or merely a disgraceful tactic to avoid infighting.

Called or not called, illegal or legal..it's the only thing people will remember and talk about from that thing labeled a fight. That just makes it pathetic.

From the lack of any decent response it seems obvious that the clinching is legal and it will continue.
