If I am right it ended Billy's career and he became an alcoholic and committed suicide?

It is horiffic when the dad congratulates the opponent and notices there was no padding in his gloves. I think he may have suspected. Total crime which required a long custodial sentence.

Man, just when I'm convinced Bob Arum is pure evil he talks and you know he's worse.

Seen the doc several times over the years and Panama Lewis is atop the dung heap. He should have gotten the same jail time Resto did. Banned from being in anyone's corner is a good consolation I suppose. I mean you would think the powers at be would have kept an eye on Lewis after the Arguello bottle incident captured on film. Its as tragic as Griffith accidentally killing Paret live on Abc or Mancini/Kim but worse because of its premeditated criminal nature.

What a sad story that is all around. At least Resto seemed to make amends with his conscience in the end. That Panama is a real scumbag.

I know right, the black bottle thing was only a year or so before as well. Just listen to Resto, sure he's older but clearly the guy is slow and wasn't behind the whole thing. That Lewis didn't see any prison time is almost as revolting as the night itself was when you take everything into consideration, he was a world class trainer with lots of guys in his stable, Resto was a despserate journeyman(not to excuse him of being a despicable one guilty of a brutal assault). They should have looked into the third party betting thing as well and forced the slimeball who met with Lewis to donate all of his winning to Collins' family. And then had he and Panama Lewis play a game of William tell on a tightrope strung over a shark tank

Its a been a while since I've seen the documentary and I fully blame YOUNG Resto. But, Resto now really is a sad, broken and slow as you say, man. God bless him and he's a pitiable person.

For sure, he obviously wasn't a moral man, but you can also understand how loads of fighters in his position could go along with such a thing.

Lewis on the other hand . To act and dress like a pea-cocking thug as a senior citizen is enough to make anyone a pretty unsympathetic character imo, but hearing him talk about this and still deny wrong doing, and even expect pity himself, is another level of disgusting.

Ha, shows me to post without actually having watched the whole thing myself huh Always thought Lewis didn't serve any jail time for some reason, guess he did. Still, should have been a lot more than Resto.

I find it ironic that just about all boxing fans are utterly disgusted with Panama Lewis yet dozens of fighters still hired him to train them - Tyson, Judah, Gatti, Botha, Ibragimov etc

What does that say about boxing?

He probably charges a low fee and he's not a bad trainer so...... fighters tryin to save money....

I dont see why fighters should not hire him if he can help them win fights.
