Default Why doesn't Ricky Hatton speak to his parents?

I got his book today and so decided to see what he was saying on You Tube and towards the end of this interview (about 7 minutes in) he mentions not speaking to his parents anymore. I know there was the fight with his Dad before the comeback fight, but why has it become such a hardline thing? So, I'm curious if anybody knows more or has read more articles and can fill in the dots. Generally I don't read sports articles so find it a bit odd. I've a few assumptions, but want to see if others know more about it.

So, why doesn't Hatton speak to his parents and seemingly on a permanent basis?

Money, Parents not accepting his descisions over boxing again, his new kids, not being invited to family parties holidays etc and he dont talk to Mathew anymore even though Ricky gave him his apartment in tenerife and lined him up some big money fights. Thats Rickys side but it would be nice to hear the other side.

I should probably get cracking with the book really and see what he says in there. If it's a dispute over money, then that would be sad, as a lot of money has been made. If it is over his children, then maybe a bit strange as some people do become parents themselves. If it was about the comeback, then it is done and dusted, and it would be strange to never speak because someone had a fight. Also not talking to his brother too? It's has obviously torn the family apart.

I saw in another interview Hatton saying that it was his Dad and if his Dad said sorry then they could have moved on, but because he didn't then he wants them to do their thing and he will do his. If he isn't talking to his brother, then I assume that the brother sides with the Dad? All so unusual and so what did his Dad do?

Probably because he's a drunk twit who can't pull himself together despite having people who care and a fortune, who knows, and who cares in a case like that. I'm sure he had quite the life as a boxer, but why would you want to read anything the man pretends to have written is my question

    Oi! Stop that.

I like the man and he is one of the finest British boxers. He was really good in his prime, he just got silly after being twatted. The language used in the book is not exactly Morrissey who you hate, but it is very Ricky Hatton. It's more Hatton than Morrissey, Hatton wrote the book more than you.

What am I arguing here, for fucks sake.

It is best not to concern yourself with the trifles of hobbits. They are a strange race who's goings on seem impossible to understand to us human folk.

My guess is that Ricky took the one ring and won't give it back so naturally that stirred up a shit storm....

It is sad but maybe it is for the best for all.

Haha, not sure, I'm glad you're having fun comparing the two though Hatton was a great fighter no doubt, just never found him to be much of a personality, bit of a bumpkin really. I hate the way it's portrayed that boxing "led him" to drink and drug addiction as well, as if that makes him endearing or something. Anyone whose ever been through anything is welcome to make excuses and start drinking their face off all day, that's the path of least resistance and frankly quite boring.

I got the book for Xmas as well, and still can't work it out. I think he's a bit up his arse with all this 'Hatton Promotions' garbage, which is really just Richard Poxon doing all the work while he minces around between benders, not a long term prospect.
