I just wasn't. Sure, he won... but especially in his fights vs Hearns and Leonard, I was against him.

Those are fighting words. Watch your 6!
He thinks you suck too, I talked to him on twitter yesterday.
Hagler is one of the finest Middle weights of all time, he was over looked for years a real hunger
fighter, who became Champion the hard way.
Marvin was not a golden boy, or the nice guy next door he was a tough SOB who had to go
into peoples back yards to fight them.
Give him respected this man deserves it, a fighters fighting man.

You are picking his fight third fight from the end of his career, which involved arguably the finest round in boxing history. Now granted I was a Motor City Cobra fan going in, but after 'The War' I could not be 'against' The Marvellous One.
And then you pick Hagler's finale...
It is the equivalent of saying "I saw the Spinks rematch and the Berbick fight; I never understood the fuss around Muhammad Ali"...
"Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it."
George Foreman
Neither were his opponents. Not a fan of Hagler's style...
Hey, as said, I never discredited his win- just didn't like his boxing style. It was not exciting to me.... just wasn't... even in his win against Hearns, I loved the way Hearns hit and didn't like the way Hagler threw punches. Just didn't...
I also didn't like Roberto Duran's style either... he wasn't that good to watch for me.

Can't fault me for liking who I like... like has nothing to do with respect. I respect Hagler. As for his style of fighting, it sucked.
I liked Felix Trinidad as a fighter too. But I was rooting against him for the DLH, Vargas and Reid fights. I just liked those guys and the way they fought a little more. So, shoot me!
What's also shocking is that I was rooting for Trinidad vs. Hopkins. Hate Hopkins style with a passion.... but I respect his record breaking achievements.

You are entitled to your opinion.
I never saw the best Hagler which probably was when he was a boxer in the 1970's, he changed his style to be more aggressive as he got older. His war with Hearns is legendary but his fight with Mugabi is impressive as well. He was too timid and paid too much respect against Duran, but he slaughtered everyone else.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Hagler wasn't as fast, flashy or even have the overall skills as fighters like Leonard or Hearns but Hagler was one tough SoB. Hagler is as tough as they come. He is literally the very definition of what a fighter/warrior is.
You look at Hagler and what you see is exactly what it truly is to be a fighter and champion. Speed, power, skills and etc are secondary in fighting. Heart, desire and mental toughness is how you get to levels that Hagler went to.
These are the reasons people love Hagler.
Maybe Haglers style isn't as exciting as some but I can only wish I had inside me what Hagler has inside him.
