Yes most of us accept he is a legend and possibly the greatest Mexican fighter ever. I love him.

I think he was the greatest Mexican fighter ever.... everyone else must fight for the second and beyond slots.

Like a lot of the ATG's, most of us do appreciate how good he was but there are always some that don't.

Absolutely Julio Cesar Chavez Sr is appreciated.

He's the Greatest Fighter to ever come out of Mexico.

    El Gran Campeon Mexicano.

He's a Boxing legend that will not be forgotten.

That one fight with Haugen, there were over 132 thousand people in attendance!

Fans could see this guy fighting on tv sometimes every month, or every 2nd month.
Between Title defenses, he'd engage in non-title fights.

It was a pleasure to watch him work.

Finito is one of the most fundamentally solid fighters there's ever been. That's a fighter worth studying for how to do everything properly.

He did go undefeated, but unfortunately for him, quality of opposition is the big difference between Finito and Chavez, and that's why Chavez ranks higher in addition to having twice as many fights, more longevity and a longer career. One guy had 107 wins 86 KOs while the other guy had 52 fights 38 KOs.

I too say he is the best Mexican fighter ever. But it is close, he wins by two seconds...

I always thought it was between him and Ruben Olivares. With Marquez and Lopez also making a case

Chavez Sr. not only won, and it wasn't only ko's, but he BEAT PEOPLE UP... raw skill. Pure skill. What he did to champs like Haugen, Camacho, et al... was nothing short of amazing, in his prime.
