Just watched it.Great little documentary film. I like Parsons but was always a little wary of his persona, as though he was trying a little too hard to be a Geeza, but after seeing this I can actually see that he is probably genuine. He can certainly write and I am pretty sure that at the end there when he is talking about having flagging arms when hitting the heavy bag, that in the shot with the young lad throwing hooks at the bag, it is Spencer Oliver in the background urging him on, so Parsons obviously takes his training seriously even if it is only for his own benefit.. Joyce Carol Oats is a fantastic writer and it is true that many, many artists have been influenced, entertained and inspired by boxing. Thanks for posting this up Bo-Bo I don't watch much TV or read many papers these days so I would almost definitely had missed it, had you not put the link up here.

Yes that was Spencer Oliver (that was his gym).

I'm not sure why Parsons kept making the point that boxing is making a comeback? The progamme said that there have been more movies made about boxing than any other sport, many of the great writers were hugely influenced by boxing, Floyd Mayweather is the highest paid sportsman in the world who expertly utilises modern forms of communication (twitter). Who exactly is it coming back too?
