Was a good fight. I dont think Williams would have got out of the first round if Tysons knee hadnt of gone.
Danny showed some heart there and took a lot of good shots. Probably what ruined his chin, that and Vitali.....
I remember that Warren offered Danny a Tyson Match in 2000 and Danny basically shit himself, said no and Francis got it.
I also remember thinking what a pointless match up that would have been.
This and the Potter fight are Danny's signature wins. He showed great great courage in each.
It was one of the last fights I watched with my mates were the adrenalin was still in my body by the fights end.

Tyson seriously injured his knee otherwise he would have stopped Danny.

It's been a while but despite being stopped in the end, didn't Tyson win pretty much every round?
The worst fight of Tyson's I've ever seen was against McBride.
The late Tyson I still considered a dangerous and aggressive puncher but the Tyson of that fight was saddening to watch for me.
"Enough with the games mate! Your messing with the Grand Master!"
Lennox Lewis
Sad outcome, Tyson should have won that one.
Even against McBride he was up before he quit too.
Can't really put any stock in those losses. I thought he looked pretty destructive actually against Etienne.
I think ppl tend to underrate the late Tyson a bit. He was no longer the world beater to be sure, but he was still a force to be reckoned with until the very end, not just any Joe could topple him. Danny and McBride were big guys who got the wins under highly unusual circumstances.

If Tyson won against Danny, he was lined to fight Vitali. So it was a good thing he lost as Vitlai would batter him like Lennox did. He was a shell of a fighter.
Tyson was dangerous early on, hence why he destroyed Ettienne.

Not underrated. Tyson fought half of the fight as a lame... he should have retired on his stool, rather than get knocked out. But, Tyson was never one to quit a fight as easily as that.
Bigger man George, bigger punch!

Old Tyson was "underrated"He was a shell by and after the Lewis fight, I think a lot of guys could have beaten him if they made it past the first couple rounds.
Against Williams, knee injury or not he still punched himself out. If anything Williams probably underperformed being brought in as a lamb and given peanuts, once he got some confidence he was hurting Tyson and muscling him around. McBride was probably what you imagine a great opponent in Muhammad Ali's era would have been though, right MaxHe had like 70 pounds on former punch bag champions, after all.
I think that Tyson would have lost to James Toney that beat Holyfield and if Ettienne had survived past 4 rounds he may have beaten Tyson too. He simply was not the same fighter, which is why his defeat to Lewis was no big deal.

I'm not sure Tyson could have beaten John Ruiz, or Rahman or Tua etc by this point. Corrie Sanders might have been able to take him out. Have little doubt that Toney would have. Tyson hadn't been able to do much of anything past a few rounds for years.
