Default Winky Wright vs. Felix Trinidad- Full fight!

Someone finally uploaded this ONE SIDED fight. Winky totally embarrasses Trinidad. It was so one sided until it was laughable.

Yea... you just wanted to see it. Now I see why they hid it for so long- it was so one sided, so disappointing for Trinidad, that it not only broke his spirit but changed his earning potential.

Lets not get carried away here. Hopkins took Tito's heart and everything after that was King cashing out. Winky Wright did not break his spirit. It would have been nice to see Winky, Ike and Tito all go at it in their primes but it was just not to be. Winky also beat Ike at 160 convincingly but that's not evidence for what would have taken place at 47 or 54.

That was not Tito in the ring that night. Crazy that I think I remember a post from that long ago but I believe I remember you saying before the fight at ESPN "Winky couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag". That's something I always respected about you, you don't stubbornly stick to your opinion on a fighter when the evidence doesn't support the opinion.

    Lol that's quite a memory.

Thanks. I was a fan of all three guys but Winky was never a puncher. Maybe he lost something as a converted right hander but he never had power per say. Beautiful piston like jab though.

Taking someone's heart is not equivalent to taking someone's earning potential. While Hopkins did beat Trinidad, Trinidad's earning power was not diminished. This was a financially debilitating loss to an un-observed and, to boxing bloodhounds, a boring fighter in the name of Winky Wright.

Winky took it all out of him this time. All out of him. He had nothing after this to give. Nothing. When Hopkins beat him, he had something left... at least Hopkins was favoured to win by many... Winky wasn't expected to win or even compete...

I knew Winky would win this one. Hop ruined Tito. Took his punch away, had him exhausted and took his aura of intimidation and invincibility away. I was more surprised when Winky got the draw vs Jermain Taylor. I thought Taylor was going to punch through his guard and manhandle him. I was wrong. U have to give Tito tons of credit for chasing the toughest fighters for years. I always wished he had fought Ike Quartey at 147. That would've been a classic.

I have no idea what they were thinking taking a fight with Wright. It smelled like an attempt to shortcut a way back to the top and King cashing out. I honestly think Wright competes with and very likely beats the same Tito Hopkins had.

Winky was always a capable boxer, so I think u r correct is believing that Winky could've competed and maybe even beaten prime Tito. The only thing that gives me any doubt was that Winky tended to come up short in big fights vs elite guys early in his career. Julio Ceasar Vasquez n Fernando Varguez r two examples. I feel that Winky was better than both but ended up losing close decisions.

Winky did dominate Trinidad but after Hopkins he did not have that effective punch, Mayorga aside who fought a dumb macho fight, once Tito power punch was taken away he did not have the boxing skills to compete with Winky.

That was a tremendous under the radar type fight for a green Winky v Vasquez. He was a pup and a huge step up. He def showed there he was going to be something top notch. Have always thought at least 2 of those KDs were dodgy and slips from exhaustion. Likewise Vazquez looked to be dropped in the 2nd or 3rd and was a non call. Good little scrap that with Wright showing true grit, lucky to make it out of the 9th! Always thought he beat Vargas in a close one.

Agreed with Vasquez fight, he was a big puncher and shows you how great Pernell was to go up weight and beat him.

I thought Vargas beat him in a close fight.

I don't know how anyone can watch 2 rounds of that seeing Tito nearly fall just trying to throw punches and then say with a straight face Winky took anything from him. His legs were gone, Tito was done. Hop took his confidence but not much else either. Titos body just gave up.
