Thread: Are greynotsoolds mechanics boxing or are they no longer boxing technque?

What he recommends and with I think good experienced judgement is something thats very far removed from what the majority of boxing gyms would teach you.

Things like having the weight infront of you or on the front foot before a cross or the rear foot before a hook, these recommendations fly in the face of boxers everywhere, its the very opposite of what is being taught.

Do you think what he teaches is superior to modern mechanics and can it be classed as boxing technique since it is so different from what everyone is doing?

What exactly are his mechanics? Weight starting on the front foot before a cross? I thought his posts said the exact opposite.

(ii)Mechanics are mechanics, the human body is a constant. Boxing is boxing.

It wouldnt do anyone any harm, only good spending a month with him better 6 month.

Im with you, if you are a good boxer and have all the routines down; its time to learn know instinctively when you can get away with all the other moves not taught because they could get the novice in trouble if they moved into one at the wrong time. Theres a big difference between fighting at your own skill level and pushing those limits to fighting to the opponents level and pushing his out of his bounds. There is a point where an unlearning curve can apply.

The hardest punchers of all time fought off the back foot joe Louis, rocky marciano and Mike Tyson. Yes Tyson threw the right hand in the exact weight distribution that grey recommends.

How do you throw a cross with the weight on you back foot?
Makes no sense you need to transfer the weight to your back foot from your front foot to punch correctly.
