I'm only 16 and a newbie at that. However my old coach said that in the olden days fighters were taught to throw there all into a punch. Today it's all about short and quick combos best thrown from the front foot, besides most gyms here in Montana and alberta don't want a follow through on the hook, most don't even want a right hand behind it because they want it pasted to the chin. It's all about short double hooks counters off the straight right to the face. Try and find a gym in Montana and alberta that doesn't fight off the front foot I doubt that many exist, I know that because of the tourneyments and there's only 1 competing gym in alberta that I can say fights off the back foot although many may say that they do.

Thats a great answer but it doesnt explain a few things.
1) Fighters like Julian Jackson who throw efor absolute damage dont fully turn the foot in either. Nigel Benn too he throws to kill people he loves a good tear up, he isnt afraid to go all out and be untechnical and unsafe. But still no foot pivot all the way.
2) Its so prevlent that you will be hard pressed to find anyone that does it (ie turn the feet in ALL the way) I cant think of very many examples maybe 2 or 3 out of 100's and they are just maybe's as in they could still turn their feet a fair bit more.
3) Some say its better to not twist your feet all the way because you loose power, they try to ancor to the ground and not loose any power via "wheel spin" I dont know if I agree with that or not, but all I see is pro after pro and puncher after puncher, sluggers n all, throwing it without fully rotating the feet.
Anyone REALLY know the answer to this?
I bet crap and pms have something to say.
Put simply it's because they don't need to.
Watch Mike Tyson explode on the pads with Kevin Rooney left shovel hook his right heel is flat the complete opposite of what scrap teaches. At least the right heel looks flat anyway it's not flamboyantly elevated.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K2bEeeveqxY
