Default Haymon's contract practices exposed: Analysis, Keith Thurman!

Haymon is the devil. Fighters under him have signed their life away. Interesting video and worth to watch the entire 30 minute plus.

    Key points:
    1. Haymon has veto power over any opponent you pick or your promoter picks for you. Go beyond that, and you will be sued. You cant even enter into negotiations with anyone for a fight unless he gives his consent, or else you are liable to be sued.

    2. Haymon's advisory goes well into your personal life: what you buy, homes, cars, etc... lifestyle. Breach of contract, and you will be sued or dropped.

    3. If a fighter makes a certain amount on their net for one fight, the contract with Haymon is automatically extended for two more years. And on and on and on.

Haymon has these boys. Lock, stock and barrel.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Prospects or up and coming fighters shouldn't consider Haymon as any option.

Sounds like a paternalistic relationship with Haymon being the tenacious, overly intrusive parent.
The thing you should be thinking about is why would any fighter (and those around him) let that happen?
I haven't seen these contracts, nor listened to the negotiations but let's try to put Haymon in the best light possible for a minute. Maybe Haymon has convinced these fighters (and those around the fighter) that if they follow his rules he well guide them to that wonderful place beyond boxing. That place where their money is working for them everyday and their families future's are secure. Oh yeah, dude, heaven on earth…retirement with security and dignity. It's possible. Lol
Haymon could be what a lot of us seem to want him to be, that dark shadow gliding past, just under the surface, of the sea of boxing. That merciless, conscienceless predator (Don Kingish?) who will rend people's lives for the almighty dollar. It's possible. Lol
I think Haymon is somewhere in between. He is always going to make money, he probably will take advantage if you are stupid enough to let him, but I think he will deliver with sound advice, good paydays and he seems to let fighters set their own pace (is that good or bad?), and I don't know if he's good or bad for boxing.
One thing I'm sure of is that every contract is not the same! He might have a standard contract, but almost every clause will be negotiable and anyone who would sign a contract without an independent review by a boxing contract lawyer is an idiot.

It was touched on in the earlier part of the broadcast. Within the first ten minutes.

I heard him mention it, but no mention of it in the contract as far as I can make out.

So many fighters have signed up with him so they must be well compensated by this deal to make them sign it or they are badly advised.

Thanks for providing the key points, because there's no way I'm watching a douche in sunglasses talking for 40 minutes.

Indentured servitude. Makes you wonder why he signs fighters clearly on the tail end, they score one shock upset and it may rejuvenate his wallet more than it actually does the fighters career.

These fighters have freedom to sign what they wish. I guess Haymon has created such a well oiled machine these guys think the pro outweigh the con. It will be interesting to see if iron Mike and or Mayweather create a good alternative. Haymon is not going to be around forever but his machine will last

fighters will always sign with people like haymon because they only see whats in front of them. many fighters see the dollar signs and the big fights right in front of them. they dont realize that if they lose a fight, their money goes down the drain because haymon will be taking it all.

thurman was smart for not signing.

Contract practices exposed, like nobody had read them yet or something? Up to a fighter to negotiate and understand exactly what they are signing for the most part I guess, although those do sound like some medieval terms

The list of fighters he has represented or does represent is ridiculous, it suggests it's not quite the slave contract this dude is making it out to be.

That said I think I might become a boxing advisor. He has to do very little to keep his end of the deal.

From a financial perspective I don't understand why he wouldn't want his guys working with or fighting anyone regardless of where they come from or who is promoting the show. He still gets his 15% and if his guy is being offered stupid money he also gets to keep them for an extended period. Sounds like win win to me?
