If you think deeper about it, the LAWs and RULEs by DESIGN are to DISQUALIFY,
not to make you HOLY
So, law abiding countries like the US quickly become dens of hypocrites, because it is impossible to keep all these laws. This is Sodom and Gomorrah
Learn Mike Tyson style and elements of Peekaboo @ SugarBoxing
And some are of course beyond all law. Too big to fail? War crimes? Police brutality? The Fed? Only illegal and punishable if you are poor or colored. There are people in solitary confinement for 40 years for crimes they didnt commit. The crime? Denouncing the system. But if you are Janet Yellen you have the right to destroy the system. You try printing money and give it to your financial terrorist chums.
Selling or drinking raw milk gives you a jail sentence and heavy fine, guns drawn by the Fascist USA Police
Selling or smoking cigarettes which KILL without a doubt is PERFECTLY OK.
A father in Ogden Utah will be jailed by tomorrow if he doesnt take down a 10-foot cardboard box that he made into a little castle for his 3 year old to play in because "it is in violation of building codes and is too near the curb of the street and is an eyesore."
Raw milk can be dangerous as well....
HOWEVER
Most laws, rules, and regulations aren't for safety, they aren't for "the public betterment", they are to generate revenue and fill jails.
The yanks did it to themselves by being a bunch of litigious motherfuckers. The government and companies don't make these silly laws for the fun of it, it's always to protect themselves from some inbred hillbilly suing for millions because he did something that 99.5% of the population is smart enough not to do.

This is a really good documentary on the subject, also goes into how government and big corporations have gone the other way with it and fucked a lot of social justice.

Well.... it's all clear now.
The kind policewoman explained that they had to shut the lemonade stand down because they were not aware of:
1. How the lemonade was made.
2. Who made the lemonade.
3. What the lemonade was made with.
Personally, I think the public was saved from a potential menace, as these little pony-tailed girls could've been mass murderers or even terrorists, out to poison mankind.
Freeze!! Put down the pitcher and back away from the stand!!
I think the girls got off easy. The cops could've asked:
1. Do you have the proper permitting to run a lemonade stand?
2. Do you have a spill prevention program?
3. Do you provide sufficient handicapped parking spaces for your business?
4. Are you in violation of any local labor laws?
5. Etc.
6. Etc.
Laws...
I think the next law to go into the books should be aimed at limiting the number of frivolous and needless laws, and stop wasting thousands of dollars of taxpayers' hard earned money.
Raw milk has been technically illegal for sometime but in my town alone there are three farms that openly sell it. No one bothers them and I've bought some to try it. Big sign in front of the farm that says RAW MILK looks like it's been there for fifty years. Not saying we don't have stupid laws in this country, just saying a lot of stupid laws are ignored in many places.
All that being said, it just takes ONE time where someone buys a lemonade from two cute girls at a lemonade stand, and maybe there is some contaminant in the lemonade, maybe they used a dangerous ingredient by mistake, maybe the glass is contaminated with something harmful, ect ect, someone gets sick or even dies and then the shit hits the fan, lawsuits everywhere, the city probably gets sued for negligence for allowing unlicensed, ungoverned concession stands to operate under it's jurisdiction, ect.

... and of course you're right. That kind of incident could happen. But this is where a few rules of common sense... not laws... should take over.
1. There should be a responsible adult behind every neighborhood lemonade stand run by little boys and/or girls. A parent, maybe, or a relative. Someone responsible enough to ensure things are done properly.
2. In the outside chance a person should get sick or worse because of tainted lemonade... lawsuits should be aimed at those responsible... ergo... the responsible adult mentioned in Rule # 1. Suing the city is frivolous and pointless. Cities should not have to issue licenses to neighborhood lemonade stands.
Think of decades past. What was more iconic in suburban neighborhoods than the kiddy lemonade stand? If we're going to police those out of existence..... let's not stop there. Let's outlaw bake sales as well. You can poison people just as easily with a tainted cupcake as with a glass of lemonade.
Somewhere a line has to be drawn.
Hey I hear ya, but you know how the yanks are with lawsuits.
A few months back I remember reading about a girl who ran down three teens in her car (wasn't entirely her fault, I think they were jaywalking or something), killed at least one of the kids, and sued the survivors for causing her emotional distress![]()
