As usual thanks for the read!!!

Interesting to read how Ali feels after that long.....

    This is a general question:

Do you support the fact that Ali did not enlist in the Army? Or do you support that it was his duty as an American to serve the country?

I would say he had legitimate issues with the war, but I would not go as far as calling him a hero avoiding the war.

Not really a myth at all. I knew everything in the article, except the nice Sugar Ray Robinson anecdote.

    Good read nonetheless. cc

Because the NATION was a black version of The Mafia and they killed Malcom X and frightened Ali.

Fuck "The Nation" they have never been anything but trouble

    Yeh guys....good read.

It was a great move by Malcolm when he went for the Hajj to Mecca.
Coz at least he came back with his mind clear. The NATION used some truths from Islam then changed it to suit their agenda.

Very interesting to know that Ali is still thinking about that time...
As far as i know Ali later left the NATION and is now Muslim as Malcolm was before he died.

Well because Elijah Muhammed was a fucking crook no better than Don King! In fact they would rather kill you and Don would rather have your money.

I don't frown upon islam as a religion but the militant muslims will be the end of the world as we know it

yes it was his duty. like they really would have sent him to the front lines!............. thousands of BRAVE men died for the USA (black and white). im sure he had his reasons, but if his reasons were that he felt america was so bad to blacks, well i guess he should have left the country. (and taken GW bush and dick cheney with him who also were draft dodgers(but they were rich)) o wait! i forgot rush limbaugh! he got out of going because he had "a boil on his ass!!!" not kidding!

My whole thing with Ali is that he was all about black brotherhood and he goes and calls Joe Frazier an Uncle Tom...the guy had no class. Now he was a great fighter yeah he stood by his decision on Vietnam but damn he was a jackass

It was principle, not to take away anything from the soldiers that did fight and died. It was principle man, Vietnam was not about defending the country, it was bout the US interefering with other nations, which they continue today.
To add with respect to religion as justification for not going to war, muslims are permitted to go to defensive war when someone attacks their home. Had Vietnam attacked he would not have dodged, but they didnt did they.
