Default When Floyd and Manny retire...

What do you think will happen? Who will become the next WW king?

Do you think they'll have a Super Six-esque tournament to determine the new #1 fighter at WW?

Keith One Time Thurman, Sergei Krusher Kovalev and DAVID FUCKING LEMIEUX will run boxing.

Those two kind of let the air out of the bag when they could not get it done in their primes. Don't let the ppv numbers fool you. In all honestly guys like Manny come along all the time and don't let the tin collecting fool you. I'm speaking from a purely pugilistic standpoint. Guys like Floyd come along once every 25 to 50 years.

Having said that I for one will be glad when both of these guys are gone. Boxing should forget about replacement and come back to earth. I think the entire ppv structure will gradually start to change and the network presence stronger and stronger. Str3aming will take over completely at some point.

I hope boxing heads in a better direction but before people were holding out for Manny or Floyd they were holding out for Oscar. There will always be stars that bring larger paydays, it's on fighters to demand the good fights that are available to them. This "my promoter...." excuse needs to die. I get why promoters, managers and fighters who care most about big checks like the strategy but we need guys who want fights. If guys take the good fights and win some of them the money will come and everyone is happy.

I'm still sticking with Jose Benavediz Jr. 23-0 Tall, long reach, well liked - by the powers that be.

He hasn't looked as great as I'd like and if he has gotten a gift or two decision (every Gr8 has) they get the benefit of the doubt.

I think he will grow physically and probably end up a WW.

Most important for me is the race factor (Mexico and Puerto Rico) support their fighters.
And Mexico is looking to erase the bad taste that Jcc Jr had left them.

This kid will draw big numbers- he needs a team that knows what fights to get him and when to do it. Every Gr8 fighter has won a fight or two based on timing of their foe.

Canelo as well- may have some years to shine. Demetrius Andrade has the potential to become a future star.

And Wilder has the potential to bring America back into the love of the HW division. As I've stated before a fight with Briggs would bring a lot of excitement and Wlad is approaching the downside of his career.

Boxing will do just fine without those two.

I don't think it matters if they retire. Manny is all but gone with his dodgy arm and Floyd has been looking worse in fights anyway. There is no magic in them anymore.

Yes, someone like Thurman will be great to see come to the forefront if he continues his ways. I don't think it will be a bad thing for boxing on whole when Manny and Pac exit, it is the nature of sports. Someday someone on here will be worrying on Floyd like @bill paxton does to Clay.

Floyd was lucky to get that contract and the dim wit executive who paid it needs sacking. Floyd is over paid for the entertainment out he provides. It means more money will be paid to more fighters for better fights.

Floyd had to build his name over time, along with fighting DLH. that made him the success he is.

Another Pac could come along. Not his style, but someone out of nowhere capturing the fans idea of what a exciting fighter should be like.

The Ledwaba fight introduced America to Pac & the Barrera fight solidified it. So our next exciting fighter might not be a product of amateur/Olympic boxing.

You're running on the assumption that boxing will still generate the same revenue when Floyd and Pac are gone, and that simply isn't the case.

And to say "Floyd is overpaid based on the entertainment he provides" is like saying "that brain surgeon is overpaid because of his mediocre juggling ability". It's just irrelevant, it's not Floyd's job to be exciting.

You are mad, of course he should be paid to entertain. He was lucky to be in the right place to get the deal. People watch Floyd because of the opponent, preferably Latin, to see Floyd get beat and/or it is on a holiday.
