The guy is coming back on the 1st and i don't see any Mesi banter? Where's the love? Is it buried under pages of posts or is noone interested?? I'd love to see Mesi in this mix for the titles at present...

I guess people have short memories, or else they believe some of the boxing commissions in the states who don't think that it's safe to allow Mesi to fight again. Wait 2 or 3 fights, and if Mesi wins and looks good people will take notice. I remember watching Mesi:

win a close decision from Monte Barrett a little over 2 years ago. Mesi built up a comfortable lead with effective boxing, but over the last 3 or 4 rounds Barrett made a serious comeback and almost won the fight. At the time I was more impressed by Barrett's comeback than I was disappointed in Mesi, but then Mesi had a similar near disaster against Jirov a couple years ago. I think a lot of boxing fans, including myself, are unconvinced with regard to Mesi's toughness. Now that he's been off for 2 years he will surely be a bit out of shape and rusty even if his health is totally back to normal. We'll see.
I remember reading Tommy Morrison's recent interview, and in it Morrison mentions that he was asked by someone to take a look at Mesi and evaluate him as a prospect. Morrison said that "Mesi is too good looking" and "he doesn't have it" as far as punching power is concerned. Morrison was probably right! My sense is that Mesi is another Duane Bobick type who builds up an impressive record and looks good against many guys, but who is ill-equipped to handle the very best in the world.
i made a messi thread and accidentley put it in calendar events

well, i think mesi will win this weekend, but ive no real wish to see him continue his career....could be a bit reckless...
I think Mesi is over.

Yeah I thought we needed some refreshers. So bring up a Mesi thread from the 506th page.

Mesi fighting IMO is an accident waiting to happen....Yeah the Dr's said his brain is okay now but WTF i don't think they said it should be getting sloshed aroun by power punching hwts....thats a bit dangerous even when you have never went through what Mesi has....
IMO Mesi was never going to be on top in the first place....even before the injury....He has some decent wins...He beat Barrett...Though not by much,,,KO'd an over rated Williamson and beat a blown up Jirov....But all wins none the less....He was not doing anything against the top tier....
When Lewis was champ Mesi gets destroyed...Tua KO's him...Either Klitschko is too much for him....Right now Peter is too strong...IMO Sultan out boxes him....Chagaev may be a good fight.....
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
Mesi should fight Golota next.
