    Default Boxing Fan?

I just had a coworker who I don't know very well try to make small talk. He knew I was a big boxing fan so he tried to start a conversation by asking me 'Are there any big boxing games coming up' No, he was not talking about the PS2. I kept from quoting James Toney in saying that you play football and baseball. You don't play boxing. But instead I made up a 'big game' coming up of fictitious names that were fighting and he felt that Clubber Drago was probably going to win. My question is two-fold. Am I a bad person and is he straight or gay? Or should I stop drinking at work? (I guess that is three-fold)

Thanks. That is what I thought. Can't afford heroin though.

Depends on whether you like the guy or not and I am not seeing how him being gay or not has a lot to do with it. I do not know for sure, but I think it is safe to say there are many gays who like boxing. I know of one openly gay boxer, but I can not remember his name. He is Puerto Rican, I think.
If this story is the truth, you should have given him the straight scoop about boxing. If you are undecided about his gayness, ask him. You might wind up with a friend at work you can BS about boxing with instead of drinking, which would be a good thing, even if he turns out to be gay. Relax, gayness is not catching. You should definitely stop drinking at work.

I was joking about drinking at work and have no issue with anyone being gay. I don't judge anyone by who they are attracted to. Story is true but everything after that was a joke. Sorry if I offended. I thought I was being funny but as my wife says 'This is why you have no friends'. Peace.

I was not offended and I do not think anyone else was either. I am not gay, but have had some gay friends over the years. My final word on gays, they can be as gay as they want as long as I do not have to be overly happy about it.

My post was supposed to be light and funny. But since I mentioned 'gays' in a negative tone that was not my intention. I grew up as a white kid on welfare and hated everyone. Black people, rich people (that actually meant families that had dual incomes and a good car), gay people, anything other than me.

But the truth was I was either jealous or afraid. And that is the root of racism.

I have since grown up and realized that judging someone by skin colour, wealth level or loving feelings of people despite their gender was really was ignorant of me.

It was actually boxing that disposed of my racism as I had to fight with people of color and if you have ever been at a club that is where respect is formed.

The rest I had to figure out on my own.

Sorry to get too in-depth on a seemingly meaningless thread.

(Maybe this is why i have been here for ten years and have very few posts)

I am now offending that you thought that anyone would be offended.

anyways I am noticing more and more that there is a new breed of boxing fan known as the 'sky fan' they believe all the horse shit that sky throw at them, just as long as it is Saturday at 8pm, they wouldn't dream of staying up to watch a big American fight.

Relax. You hurt no one's feelings. (I'm quoting the OP, but read the rest of the thread).

I actually quite enjoyed the post. "Boxing GAMES"?? Yep... the guy's definitely gay and desperate to hang with a straight guy. Not knowing Clubber Lang or Drago's no big deal. He can forgiven for that. I watched the Rocky movies, but cringed at Stallone's acting and wannabe boxing. Wouldn't blame anyone for NOT watching the movie and its sequels. But hell..... probably 90% of women call boxing matches by their correct name.

That was beautifully written and very moving post. Ironically the GOTY award should be given to you.
