That fella didn't know the "Middle Eastern men" were muslim nutters (if that's what they were). So why would he report them? Now that does seem racist.

Probably saw something sketchy and then thought "Maybe that's just part of their culture" or he could be an illegal alien/have an expired Visa himself so he didn't want to draw any attention to himself......I don't know the exact reasons behind what the Middle Easterners did and why the guy didn't alert the authorities, I quoted it and left the story there for everyone to read. The lack of follow up questions really falls in the lap of the reporter and/or editor if those questions were asked and then not put in the story.

I am very familiar with that area; I can't count the concerts (starting with Elvis) that I saw at the Orange Pavilion, which is right there.
Also, Interstate 10 crosses Waterman just a block or two south of there. My uncle was once traveling north on Waterman and trying to get on the 10 west. There is no light there and, since he was being pursued by the police, he tried to beat the traffic. Alas, he didn't make it and crashed. But he beat the case.
