to be honest with you, Shavers and Tyson aren't even in the same league
Shavers wasn't great... He just could punch... and He would be able to get through Tyson's guard.. .Also Shaver was hurt easily and not as strong as Tyson so he would be pushed around and Tyson's first combination that landed would likely take Shavers out... I say this doesn't last more than 4 rounds.
yeah, shaver's chin wasn't exactly spectacularOriginally Posted by Taeth
BUt I think Tyson would respect his power, and thats why I think it would take him 3-4 rounds because in his prime he was cautious to a degree.
It's over quick, maybe in the 1st round with Shavers being helped to his corner. Jerry Quarry knocked out Shavers in 1 round so Tyson could easily have done the same. Shavers had a big punch but plenty of guys were able to survive it for long enough to hurt or knock out Earnie. I saw him several times and he wasn't anywhere close to the level of Tyson as far as speed, coordination, accuracy or variety of punches. If Tyson just stood right in front of Earnie like he did with Razor Ruddock, then Earnie would have had a decent chance but otherwise Earnie would have been badly outclassed.
Tyson beats everyone in history provided that he stayed focused.
End of discussion...
What was the biggest name on Shavers list of Opponents that he beat?Everytime he stepped up he lost.He was KO'd against Quarry in 1 round,Ron Lyle KO'd him, lost to Ali,Holmes twice,Mercado,Tex Cobb and 7 others. His biggest win was against an aging Norton. He built up his record against a lot of midwest fighters with losing records. If he had faced Tyson he would have been knocked out in the early rounds.
If he lost to Tex Cobb then....
Tyson KO1....the fight was WAAAAY too easy to call
Shavers-Lewis a little more difficult but Lewis had more boxing skill
Shavers-Witherspoon
Shavers-Wlad
Those would be more competative
He beat Norton, and both Ali and Holmes said he hit harder than anyone they've ever fought though I don't think Foreman ever hit Ali cleanly.Originally Posted by Klitschkofan
