Default Josh Taylor v Viktor Postol - WBC final eliminator 23/6/18 Glasgow - Ch5

Big step up for Josh Taylor here and a tough tough test against a seasoned pro.

Cyclone Promotions are delighted to announce that Scotland’s exciting contender Josh Taylor (12-0-0) will face Ukraine’s number one-ranked Viktor Postol (29-1-0) in a final eliminator for the WBC World super lightweight title at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on June 23rd.

This mouth-watering contest will be shown live and exclusive on Channel 5, and is sponsored by Voltarol, Ladbrokes and Maxi-Nutrition.
TICKETS FOR JOSH TAYLOR vs VIKTOR POSTOL AT THE SSE HYDRO, GLASGOW ON SATURDAY JUNE 23RD ARE ON SALE FROM 10AM ON FRIDAY APRIL 25th – PRICED £40, £60, £80 AND VIP INNER RINGSIDE AT £150 + BOOKING FEES, AND AVAILABLE FROM WWW.TICKETMASTER.CO.UK OR CALL 0844 844 0444.
Cyclone’s Josh Taylor has firmly established himself as one of the best super lightweights in the world in recent months. Having disposed of domestic rival Ohara Davies with a ruthless seventh-round TKO win last July, the 27-year-old then became the first man to stop former long-reigning world champion Miguel Vazquez to round off a stellar 2017.
The ‘Tartan Tornado’ was also at his destructive best last time out in March at the SSE Hydro, as he cleaned out Nicaraguan contender Winston Campos within three rounds to move one step closer to world title glory.
After just twelve professional outings, Taylor has already boxed in each of the home nations as a pro, as well as three times in the USA on big world title bills. Not only has he headlined several cards before millions of viewers live on Channel 5, but the Prestonpans native has also boxed live on Showtime in the USA at the home of boxing, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Though by far the biggest fight of his career to date, Taylor will be relishing the opportunity to take another significant step towards world title glory by overcoming Ukraine’s Viktor Postol on June 23rd.
Having unashamedly fallen short in his attempt to become a unified champion against pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford back in 2016, Postol will arrive in Glasgow with dreams of reaching the Super Lightweight summit once again.
During his rise to the top, ‘The Iceman’ claimed wins over the likes of Yvan Mendy and Henry Lundy before sensationally stopping the dangerous Lucas Matthysse back in October 2015 to become the WBC super lightweight King. The Ukrainian has ambitions of becoming a two- time world champion, and he knows that a victory in Glasgow would catapult him back towards the top of the 140lb pile.
The scene is set for an action-packed encounter between two of the world’s best super lightweights, with the winner guaranteed a shot at the coveted WBC world title. The fans at the SSE Hydro on June 23rd are in for a treat. You can follow all of the build-up on our twitter handle - @cyclonePromo ; and/or our Facebook page - www.facebook.com/CyclonePromotions
There will be extensive undercard announcements in the coming days.

This is very good news for British Boxing in my view. It’s a good step up to World level fight forTaylor.
Just waiting for Barry to stitch him up and for it to go pear shaped now.

What has Postol been up to, I don't think I've seen him since the Crawford fight

It says that Postol beat an undefeated Jamshidbek Najmiddinov since his loss against Crawford. Remember he beat Matthysse before that.

That’s weird. I had no idea he had another fight after Crawford. Is he still with Roach?

He was knocked down in the Najmiddinov fight, before that inactive for a year after the Crawford loss. He is still highly ranked so this will be another good scalp for Taylor. Taylor doing everything right so far in his career.

Good fight for taylor and it will be good for Scottish boxing, I think Crawford broke postol in their fight and I would bet on him being finished at the top level now. Scottish sportsters have a very bad habit of choking when things get serious but this is a great stage for taylor and I think he wins it easy.

Diabolical that this guy fights on free TV, is being matched harder than some popular "world" champions yet nobody knows who he is.

Watch this thread disappear off the board with a small number of views, whilst next week Eddie Hearn, Haye and Bellew will have a million posts about what cunts they are and why PPV has ruined boxing.

For what it's worth i'll take Taylor right now against anyone at 140 (pretty weak division). I'd love to see him against Broner, the States would take notice of him even if Brits don't

Prograis and Relikh could give him some troubles but that's saying a lot for a guy with only 12 fights.

Prograis maybe but cant see Relikh coming close to beating him. Taylor Lipinits would be a good fight
