Thread: Does anyone have any stats on the amount of boxers there have been through the years?

I want to fight statistics to show the amount of boxers that fought through each year/decade. I want to see how the amount of them have increased/decreased. I can’t find it anywhere.

Country of origin may be a way to piece some of it but the years tougher to sort. Not like Boxrec is an almanac in accuracy but they list near 4k in the States. That sounds pretty low?! 2 in Cuba

The only thing I can find is that there are around 20,000 professional boxers right now. I don’t necessarily need year but year but maybe by decade or at least an estimate. Like did the 50’s average around 20,000 professional boxers too or were there more?

The total amount of boxers.... Well, y don't you go to Boxrec and say for example type the letter A into fighters last name, and count, all listed, then type B, then C, etc..
Add them up I guess

Yeh saw that too but think the 20k was from a few years back. Really a head scratcher trying to figure decade, good question. I tried digging up State by State boxing registries per each commission but couldn't find much definitive. I did manage to receive a couple of random contracts and PDF forms from Louisiana though. I'll be making my debut under an alias in the local Piggly Wigley parking lot apparently
