Was thinking about that earlier and have we really witnessed something like we are today? Really makes you think. Boxer/athletes putting careers on complete hold and answering the call. Of course WWII is the biggest with multiple top guys enlisting and championships effectively coming to a freeze around 1944 or 45'. Fighters like Lew Jenkins or Barney Ross who saw direct combat. I cannot think of a similar situation as Vitali right now who is the Mayor of the key City shitwit Putin seeks to take. There is true honor on a world scale unfolding right now and it really puts the often pettiness of the sport in perspective. In Wlad and Vitalis case it is very apparent that a fighter by definition truly never retires.

My wife’s parents are being bombed in Kharkiv right now. My wife saw Usyk with his photo op and “fu$€ that scumbag, he’s always supported Russia. Lomachenko is our fighter”

I get the news through her Ukrainian sources and it’s every bit as bad as you hear as far as Russia and their war crimes.

I know some professional footballers have died. Hope this ends soon. Putin needs to be taken out.

I hope it ends also- this will have reverberations for generations. I admire the Ukrainian people and am humbled by the Klitschkos, Usyk, Loma…etc. Same with Zelensky- great leader. I am humbled watching these men fight for their country and put their lives on the line for their people. Putin seems determined though, and he doesn’t strike me as a man who wavers or doubts himself- so this will likely not end well. That being said, I feel Putin will make an effort to not severely injure/ kill famous Ukrainians to limit the outrage and ire from the rest of the world. Still, it’s an invasion so there is not much he can do from Moscow.

Not quite sure how you avoid injuring or killing famous Ukrainians

Difficult in the initial siege and partly why the Russians are advancing so slowly. Russian intel likely has a good idea where Zelensky and other high value targets are- so he will limit the heavy bombardment and place an emphasis on capture over kill. That being said- in armed conflict he has no real control so if it comes to heavy fighting they will likely not fare well. Once they are captured I think he will try to show that he is treating them fairly to reduce outrage and anti-Putin/Russian sentiment.

War is hell. The US would have gone in already if they were sure China would not take advantage of the situation.

Just for them to get their proper respect it should be stated the Klitschko’s are actually fighting. Usyk took pictures and stays for morale, Lomachenko took pictures and left.
(Directly reported from Ukrainians in Ukraine)

Everyone should do what they feel is right. No judgement. But the honor is to the Klitschko’s

Not seen any evidence Loma has left?

If they're staying they're all doing their bit.

Bordering on some insane times. Imagine placing a higher unit emphasis on preserving high profile State figures than one does schools, playgrounds and entire civilian blocks all in the name of saving humanitarian face on the world stage. Think we've come to a point where Country to Country some very hard truths need to be confronted in the company we keep.
