I would say Mikkel Kessler and then Joe Calzaghe.

I'd hardly call Joe Calzaghe underrated any more. He's possibly the highest profile world champion in boxing right now.
Kessler has plenty of fans on his nutsack, at least in this forum. :P
The most truly underrated champions will be fighters who just don't get any exposure, Clinton Woods is one who springs to mind.
Roberto Vasquez and Lorenzo Parra don't get much attention either.
Hmmmm....Karmazin![]()
Nah Karmazin is just a bum :POriginally Posted by Lyle
(Please note the day on the peoples posts prior to me)
I would say the most underrated Champ today would be a toss up between Erdei and Cazares.
I'd say Travis Simms is up there. The man has great skills and fundamentals. He needs a name opponent to make him a star though. I'd love to see him fight Ouma or the winner of Mayorga vs. Vargas(Mayorga of course), or at least take on Verno Phillips.

I don't think the lower weights get much credit either. Eagle Kyowa probably deserves a little more credit at Minimum. But maybe his lack of effort to unify and lack of competition is what holds him back. It's a shame Calderon is stepping up really.
CC back. Most people, me included do not pay much attention to the really small weights, you below 118 and I don't know shat about the fighters or care really, too small for me, and seems like the titles change hands constantly.Originally Posted by bzkfn

I think his skills are underrated, the only negative I see is that he was inactive for soo long. Now that hes back he has to make the best of it.Originally Posted by Hulk
I would def. love to see him and PBF at 154 taking that Simms continues to rack up some wins, starting with Rivera and following it up with Alcine is a really good start.![]()
I know, but Eagle does a job. It's not that far for him to move upto Fly and try and get a fight with Pongsaklek since he won't leave Asia. He should go try and dethrone him.Originally Posted by Hulk
I also forgot to mention Caballero at Super-Bantam. Ponce De Leon and Marquez get all the credit there...
I would also inlcude Ivan Calderon as underrated due to his weight also...
Quite a few of the guys at lower weights,Sakata,Cazares,Calderon for sure.
Yukata Niida
Wladimir Sidorenko
Joel Casamayor
Nice spot on Sidorenko and SImms too.![]()
I also would say Travis Simms but then Serguei Dzindziruk can claim he is underrated too. The point of being underrated has to do with the fact that one Popular Independent Ratings such as of the Ring Magazine having one Official Commission's World Titlist sistematically below non official "titlists" and that is the case of Chad Dawson in the Light Heavyweight Division ( Erdei is rated number 1 right behind Hopkins)...
