    Default Ben Whittaker Quit.

    Overrated?

    Overpaid?

    How will he come back?

Ben was injured and could not continue. He will be back and have a rematch.

He quit for me. We've all seen this situation umpteen times. On every occasion other than this one, the person being pushed over the ropes is powerless to stop it. Whittaker looked like he did everything he could to ensure it happened. Absolutely mental.

I think it might be dawning on Ben that he's not quite ready for that pedestal he's been put on. Maybe he never will. The chinks in the armor started showing a couple of fights ago. He was winning, but labouring in company he should have been dismantling.

Against Cameron, it started to get a little spicy. He saw a way out and he took it.

He may well have been injured in that mad 'fall' but for me he didn't want to continue whatever. I think if it had continued he'd have been stopped such was the confidence of the other guy (forgotten name).

He's hyped up and promoted himself and done well with that but at present it looks like he doesn't have the tools to back it all up.

Do we really understand how difficult boxing is? He fell out of the ring, for God's sake. Even if I only hurt my big toe like Haye, I would not want to continue.

Whitaker swallowed it quicker than a cheap whore!

He chucked it and he doesn’t fight the rematch he'll probably spend the next 2 fights facing cab drivers to “rebuild”.

See the difference between the amateurs and pro's, is that amateur doesn't test your will as much. Whittaker (for the first time in the pro ranks) was in with guy were his talent was not going to be enough and when your talent is not enough then you have to rely on your will............a will he did not have.

And even though the tumble over looked crazy, they both landed quite comfortably on their backs on the part of the ring outside the ropes, and Whittaker's feet were just in the air off the edge of the ring.

Look, Whitaker is just a Naseem Hamed / Emanuel Augustus wannabe

Sounds like he had more success scoring TKO1 over some poor fella's cell phone at the airport . Ben just got way over his skies in the big picture. His showmanship outran his substance and on a massive stage with thousands of eyes on you, when you're pressed to the mental and physical limits, strange things happen. The clowning and imitation of Emanuel Agustus has to come after a young fighter has strengthened and honed the basics, he was doing it completely backwards and it caught up dramatically. And full credit to his opponent who didn't get caught up in the moment and simply looked thru it all. When (if) does Whittaker take the rematch, that's the real question.

SMT... he is a silver medalist at the Olympics. He is still yet developing as a professional, but it will come. He is a lot different from David Price or Frazer Clarke, I'll tell you that.

That silver hasn't done much help him slip right hands in the pros. But this can definitely be chalked up as a get a grip and serious up moment.
