Default Jaime Munguia shock loss to Bruno Surace

In a shocking upset, super middleweight Bruno Surace (26-0-2, 5 KOs) knocked out Jaime Munguia (44-2, 35 KOs) in round six in the main event on Saturday night at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico.

Clearer video of the KO here. This fucker only had four KOs and comes up with a one punch knockout. How about that.

Mung got one punch ironed out by a fighter with a sub KO 20%

    Not acceptable

4 KOs in 25 fights going in vs 35 KOs in 45 fights

First and foremost, Mung needs to apologize to his father, his sons, his countrymen, and all the world's chin scientists like myself. And then he needs to hang up his gloves in shame and become a recluse

In truth, Munguia was never as good as he was made out 2b, he was a weight bully who had a padded record who already should've had 2 losses on his record. He really lost to Hogan, Derevyanchenko, and got a gift decision in both fights.

Surprising result ? Yeah but not even close to being one of the stand out upsets in recent years.

    Bravo au Français !!

Easy to say in hindsight, but truth be told wasn't this just a matter of time? The biggest praise for Munguia has always been "well so tough and has a great chin, exciting fighter". Now, all of those come with expiration dates in boxing. Specifically chin. I've always said...the bad thing about being complimented for a solid chin is that you get to prove it literally from minute to minute. Also huge is just where is a guy's mindset and motivation after coming off a multimillion-dollar lotto that resulted in zero ramifications for losing. He just walked right back into "low risk-high reward showcases". Munguia for all his gusto has been getting clipped with the same punches all along, that's never changed. And overtime they catch up badly. All the record padding in the world isn't going to improve a defense and reinforce a chin. Full credit to Surace who sniffed it out and brought his own motivation. That was no 'lucky' shot. He was putting a harsh downward arc on that right hand leading up to the one that got Jaime. Beautiful KO and moment.

Didn’t everyone always see through Munguia? I don’t think I ever heard anyone say “no, he’s really good”
