Default Canelo vs Crawford getting closer..... (wink, wink)

    https://www.boxingnews24.com/2025/01...o-vs-crawford/

"Boxing’s First Real Mega-Fight In Ages: Canelo Vs. Crawford!"

I'm presuming the article title is tongue-in-cheek.

"Boxing's First Real Mega-Fight in Ages"

    Right.

They've certainly been dancing around this one long enough. Whether it happens or not is beside the point. The fact it's even being contemplated is wonderful, IMO.

"Wonderful"?? Yep. That's what I said.

Wonderful because it might be the cherry on top of the ice cream that has been Canelo's career as of late.

    I hope it happens.

I'd be curious as to the particulars, though.

Would it be at 168? If so, I'd advise Crawford to begin a steady diet of Clenbuterol beef. Maybe Canelo can steer him (excuse the pun) to some choice slaughterhouses.

I noticed the proposed fight date is September 13th.

Good thinking. At least Crawford will still be 37. Won't be 38 till a couple of weeks later, so that might take some of the sting out of the age criticism for Canelo.

I can't wait for the hype for this one... and all the gullible casuals and Canelo groupies who will swallow up the hype like hungry, tainted cows feeding from a trough.

I like Crawford and glad he is making big money and this is a very high profile event.

Crawford is an elite boxer who is really unappreciated and should be a higher profile mainstream name in the world.

Bud will give it his all and has nothing to lose.

    I like Crawford too.

But I see this event for what it really is: one guy ducking his one true dangerous opponent... and another guy wanting a little limelight before calling it quits on his career.

Me... I'd rather not be bothered with hype about a 168-pounder who has even wanted to fight for a bogus cruiserweight title, fighting against a bloated 147-pounder, on whom the jury is still out whether he can even carry his power over to 154.

Meanwhile, the true challenge to this protected diva has been sitting, stewing in his own disappointment... while Ginger fans give the diva a pass for ignoring him.

But alas... boxing has truly changed.

    Bring on the 3-ring circus.

They will hype this fight but a win by Canelo is expected and his record for his last few fights clearly show that he is not taking on the most dangerous fighters and is retiring very soon.

I can see Canelo moving onto the you tube circuit next.

I can see Crawford being criticised for not taking Ennis at whatever weight suits them. Ideally that would be a good warm up for Crawford before September but business reasons means he will not take the risk.

Oh I'm not criticizing Crawford at all. He just wants in on the Cash Cow bonanza before the diva retires. Fact is... any underweight champion with a name to offer is a likely candidate (and beneficiary) of this farewell circus tour. Back when common sense prevailed, boxing fans would've scoffed at the idea of Crawford vs Ginger. Now it's a serious possibility. Is it any less likely that we could go even further in the weight disparity matchups? Hey.... Inoue is still out there.

Ugh. Man. Not keen on this spectacle event at all. Struggling with Crawford as a fan as he walks towards the sunset. I think in a way he's shortchanging himself with the division leapfrogging to a place at 38 years old we all know will be, very very likely, his career finale either way. I think he's peaked out as far as size and showed some signs of it with Madrimov and his complete reluctance to make huge fights with very competitive fellow champs and challenges at 154 irks me. Always always favor an elite fighter cleaning divisions and both guys here are just jumping at the lotto grab. And Canelo will get zero respect for beating another literally blown up jr middle and he shouldn't. Manufactured diversion type names for sake of names event for me.

Turki basically confirmed that the fight would happen in September.

LMAO. Social media is boiling over with speculation over who wins between Canelo and Crawford.

Same ol same ol. All this does is legitimize the fight, and give the illusion that Canelo is actually looking for challenges. Isn't anybody else tired of this M.O.? This fukker has pulled the wool over the collective eyes of boxing for decades now. Stacks the deck in all his fights... and grooms his pretty boy image more carefully than an aging movie actress.

At first I would go into the posts and put my comments. But it soon became clear that this is like the start of a landslide. Nothing and no one is going to stand in its way. By the time the fight rolls around... the boxing world will be fawning over this B.S. fight like it's some kind of Fight of the Millenium or some crazy shit like that.

Gotta hand it to this coddled diva. He's a marketing genius.

how you beat canelo is you freeze him then you pull him. terence crawford is a lot smaller than canelo but he can do that pretty good.

He's had exactly one opponent at 154, and couldn't put him away. He had a string of 11 straight knockout wins, including the last 8 at welter.... yet somehow didn't bring his power to super welter.

Now he's being asked to fight a guy with an iron chin at 168.

    Remember Amir Khan?

This is going to be similar to that, except that Bud will be more wily and cautious... either lasting longer than the six rounds Khan survived against Canelo... or surviving the entire borefest, like the other undersized dude, Jermell Charlo, did back in 2023.

Some chatter about both taking in between fights. I swear I see Canelo fighting Scull...for the trinket he dropped because he was initially required to fight Scull to keep . Just speaks to how empty some belts can be. Saw Derevyanchenko as a possibility for Bud. Being honest...should Crawford do a proper step up and cruise a long in the tooth but always a stern test in Derv, it would be a literal step in the right direction. Still not big at all on leapfrogging divisions and leaving tons of work undone.

They’ve determined no rehydration clause so it will be legendary if Crawford can pull it off, meaningless if Canelo wins

Amazing looking back at Floyd making Canelo easy work. Has it been long enough that the haters can acknowledge what Floyd did yet?

When Canelo is the heavy one, there's no rehydration clause.

When he's the lighter one, there is.

If this doesn't classify as Chickenshit 101... I don't know what does.

    I'm not a Floyd hater.

But let's not make his embarrassing shutout whitewashing of Canelo into more than it is.

Canelo didn't belong in the ring with Floyd. It's just that Canelo's legions of groupies demanded it, and there was money to be made.

All Floyd did was put an exclamation mark on the sentence I've just bolded.
