Default Mentoring two boys now... having a bit of fun!

    Hey guys,

I started a program that was sponsored by my Lodge where we go into a public primary school and speak to the young boys in their "Gentlemen's Club." The teacher/organiser told me about one of the boys who keeps on getting into trouble in school, fighting and harrasing the other kids. So, I took to him and asked him a few weeks back if he wanted to go to the boxing gym and work out his frustrations. He ran home to tell his mother and his other family members.

But, I thought I was getting one boy, but the Mother gave me the other younger one too to tag along. He is more excited than the one I actually came to mentor and train. lolol... Funny how that is? I had them to the gym this week and they got their first "scraps," in yesterday. They are only 12 and 9 years old. But, the older one is VERY BIG for a 12 year old. 5 ft at least and about 140lbs...

I've been working with them and with the older one in particular, I'm taking the Cus D'Amato approach as he did with Tyson. Lots of encouragement and positivity. They think I'm taking them to boxing, but I'm really brainwashing them with decency and positivity.

I took videos of their first "scraps." lolol.... I call them scraps because they ain't really sparring yet, just the little things the coaches give the starters to get them used to punches being thrown at them. Within a month they should be ready for competition I reckon.

The younger one surprised me with his interest and vigor for the sport. Has amazing hand speed and reflexes are pretty decent, too. He will do well if he sticks with it.

The older one is a little different. He is dealing with anger and depression issues. I know that "look." I told him before he went to the gym yesterday to "put all of that shit about his father and his mother and all of that stupid noise he has around him at home out of his mind and focus on the gym for an hour and block all of that other shit out of your mind. Just go in there and have fun." Just like that I told him. Then I told him that after he works out to take about 30 minutes to an hour looking over his school work just to keep up to date and to get him used to reading his material. I told him 30 minutes of that and then you can play your video games and watch TV all night if your parents let you. You did the work! (Had him watching old Mike Tyson videos on the ride back home and told him to listen to how Tyson speaks about himself... speak like that about yourself. YOU ARE THE BEST EVER. THE MOST VICIOUS AND RUTHLESS CHAMPION EVER!

Will keep you updated on how it goes.

Well done for giving your time and sharing your life experience to support the 2 boys.

Guiding them through the formative part of their lives will be important and your impact will be profound.

Boxing will give them discipline and hopefully they can use that for the other areas. If they can flourish in education and gain some self confidence they will be eternally grateful.

Some people need a positive role model and you can be that.
