Default Subriel Matias on the comeback trail (I hope)... I'll be there! :)

I'm excited. Not often I get the chance to see professional boxing here on the island. In this case it's Matias, who hopefully bounces back from his defeat to Liam Paro last year. I still think he can make waves at 140, and am anxious to see how he performs.

Matias was building a reputation as a true force before the Paro setback. I actually thought he performed better than most gave him credit for—I had it 115-113 Paro. Valenzuela always comes to fight, but I don’t see him holding up to Matias’ pressure. I think it ends inside eight.

140 is in a bit of flux with some big names eyeing a move up, but there’s still plenty of talent and rising prospects. Matias remains a key player in the mix. Envious you’ll be there live—this one should be fireworks for as long as it lasts!

Super excited, as the fight is tomorrow. Hoping for a good card all around, although admittedly I have no idea who's fighting.

I like to go with a crowd, and there will be 5 of us, so it should be fun. I love boxing on TV, because you get the slo-mo replays, and all sorts of different angles. But nothing beats being there in person for the pure excitement of it all.

Especially given that Matias is from Fajardo, and is fighting in his hometown. Luckily it's just a 20-minute drive for me.

Round card girls are another bonus... and gives the crowd something to look at between rounds.

I'll try and get some good pictures.

Hope you have a great time—there’s nothing like hearing the punches land in person. Matias always brings excitement, and the rest of the card looks competitive with plenty of action in store. And let’s be honest, those ring card girls sure don’t hurt the experience!

Nice little upset with Xolisani Ndongeni over Bravo. Didn't catch much else though. Tito you make it in ok? It's great having a live card close to home hope you soaked up every minute.

Ugh! Sorry for the picture quality. It's my stupid Android. I guess the zoom coupled with the fast action did a number on the pictures.
In any case, that is Alfredo Santiago on his way to a TKO win over Javier Fortuna in the fight before the main event.

Damn. Same issue here. I guess all my pictures are going to look like crap. Anyway, this was the main event. Subriel Matias landing a left on Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela on his way to an 8th round TKO victory.
Valenzuela was a tough customer. He took a hell of a lot of punishment, while getting plenty of shots in on Subriel. Off this fight, I can't really say how Subriel will fare against Richardson Hitchins, who will have to face Subriel as his mandatory.
But I'd venture Matias would win that one.

OMG, this is embarrassing. I probably won't be getting too many phone calls for sports photographer jobs.

OK guys, I'm truly sorry about the shitty picture quality.
I'll try to make up for it...

Titofan that was great work Matais won his comeback and you had a good time that is the main thing.

Looked like a fun card! Thanks for the photos, Titofan. Hope you had a great night at the fights. I see Matias struggling against all the current champions at 140, but Hitchins might be his best shot. Puello vs. Russell seems to be on a collision course for unification, but a fight with Russell would be a terrific matchup. As for Teo, I think Matias is tailor-made for him.
