Default Brian Norman Jr vs Derrieck Cuevas - March 29th

Kind of last minute here... and only two televised fights on the card. But settling in just as the fight begins. Hope it's a good one.

(For the WBO World Welterweight Championship).

Good first round. Both have some pop... but Norman seems to have the hand speed edge. Looks like it'll be a good one.

Quick combination toward end of 2nd wobbles Cuevas. Yep... that hand speed is going to be a problem for him. Good 2nd round for Norman.

Oh dear... fight's over in the 3rd. I thought Cuevas would last a little longer, but the TKO was inevitable. Norman just beat the fight out of him. Brian def looks like the real deal at 147, and I can see him consolidating belts.

Oh well. Now to wait on the Mikaela Mayer vs Sandy Ryan rematch.

Nice pre-main event tribute and ten-count for George Foreman.

Well... I stayed awake for it. That's about the most I can report.

A lot of flying leather by both ladies. It ended in a UD win for Mayer, who defended her title. My biggest take away was that if either of them had any power it would've been a short fight, as they got into more than a few toe-to-toe exchanges.

    Now time for bed.

I didn’t expect much resistance from Cuevas, though he does carry some power. Norman’s left hand is lightning fast. I saw Jin Sasaki hand him a written request for a shot—that’s a solid fight, but I’d rather see Norman go for unification with Mario Barrios

Nice little rattle battle for Norman who finally got that first title defense under his belt and had a say. They were pushing Cuevas up with even a couple of Mayorga mentions but he had zero answers after the 1st and Norman has some menace on those short hooks. I was thinking of a Kendall Holt for whatever reason, he just makes "fun tv". Unification is a no brainer with winner of Boots v Stanionis, if we're so lucky.

on a side note at the risk of sounding like Archie Bunker it's a crime and ass backwards promotion that Shu Shu Carrington did not make the main card. A big chunk of what is wrong with boxing now and how a platform can drop the ball. Then again ESPN is out of boxing in a few months by all accounts so to be expected. How do you have a world champ Norman is a co-main...and another top contender ranked #1,1,2,3 in the world off main card especially when two of the world champions Leo and Espinoza just had breakout title wins have been under the same banner! This is not building fanbases forward let alone highlighting two top US fighters tbh. Just makes no sense at all. Oh and all behind Mikaela Mayer ffs...yeh I said it
