Default Pernell would have beaten floyd easily

Playing video games the other night and me beating up on floyd with pernell whitaker made me think how pernell is one of the greates forgotten fighters who was unchallenged in his prime, and how people do not rember him because of how boring his fights were, my friend said who is this guy your beting me with you never heard of sweet pea whitaker? After seeing zab mayweather Id have to say pernell whitaker would have beaten and frustrated floyd mayweather,

Whitaker wins in his prime as a 135lber, but I doubt he could beat Lil Floyd at 147lbs though.

There is one intangible to this fight... 'Uncle' Roger floored near prime Sweat Pea, so maybe he knows something about Whitaker's style, to give Lil Floyd an edge?

Whitker also was known to not train for fights and later abused drugs thats no excuse but it makes you wonder how good he could have been. I just see whitaker taking 1-5 much like zab but with much better defense, against whitaker floyd would never get going though, and would be trying to play catch up later, pernell too good for that and wins a unimous but not completly dominate decsion

Good memory Britkid uncle Roger had Pernell down and hurt after Pernell tried to get cute, and pulled Rogers trunks down, well roger got pissed and almost knocked him out.

But he didn't, Whitaker came back and won the fight. I don't think Floyd has the old school grit of Roger either, but he has a better chin But not as hard a right hand. I think Pernell beats Floyd easily as it has been shown he has trouble with someone who A) makes Floyd come forward and B) has quick hands. I think Pernell's jab would dominate Floyd.

Cool Click, good posting.Agreed 100% apart from maybe the quick hands as Castillo does not have quick hands but he beat Floyd the first time.

Agreed. Pernell would probably never hurt him, but outpoint him almost every round

I think that Pernell had better defense than Mayweather has now, but not Mayweather's old style. Also Pernell would be picked apart by Mayweather's speed which is way faster than anyone who ever fought Pernell. Oscar Dela Hoya was able to land on Pernell a few times, and Mayweather is much much faster than ODLH ever was. He would counter Pernell or lead and be to fast. Its like James Toney could counter almost anyone in the world even Nunn, but when he fought RJJ, Jones was just too much faster for him to counter at all.

No jab has ever dominated Floyd, and PBF has faster reflexes than Pernell has quick hands.
