    Wonjongkam's record defense!

    Saturday, April 15 2006

    By Damrong Simakajornboon

Long-time WBC flyweight king Pongsaklek Wonjongkam's title defense is now official. He will defend his crown against WBC #15 Daigo Nakahiro of the Japan on Labor Day, May 1 at the ground of the 11th Infantry Regiment, King Rama IX's Guard in Bangkok. This will be the 14th title defense of the Thai hero who registered the quickest KO defense in flyweight championship history, defeating Japanese Daisuke Naito at 0:34 of the opening round on April 19, 2002. If Wonjongkam defeats Nakahiro, he will match another world boxing record with the most defenses in flyweight history, equaling as Mexican fighter Miguel Canto who successfuly keeping his crown fourteen times from 1975 to 1979. Nakahiro had just lost a split decision to Daisuke Naito in a domestic title challenge on February 13 and his record is reported as 13-1 (4 KOs). In other action, WBC#3 fly Panomroonglek Kratingdaenggym (12-0, 8 KOs) will defend his Asian Boxing Council (ABCO) fly title against Japanese Hiroaki Kusunoki (9-4-1,8 KOs). Also, former WBC flyweight champion Medgoen Singsurat (43-4,30 KOs) will defend his ABCO superfly title against Filipino Allan Lerio. This event will be promoted by Petchyindee Boxing Promotion.

When will this guy fight Arce? I think both of them would beat Darchinyan if the Disodad Gabi is anything to go by,I was not that impressed by him.

Vic would hammer arce imo coz arce is to hittable and give vic a bit of credit, he only had 4 weeks to prepare for gabi.

Vic has power but Arce has a decent defence and not just that, the amount of leather Arce throws+Vic's really leaky defence=Arce crushing him. Wonjongkam would be more difficult I think but I always back Travieso!

It's a miracle for Pongsaklek fighting out of thailand and out of comfort from his die-hard supporters. Pongsaklek fought a defensive posture and always on his bicycle.

Now he is fighting in Japan and if he cant knock this little Japanese, then he is now in trouble.

Pongsaklek can't win a round if he can't domonate it, not unlike in thailand when even a missed punch counts.
