Favored fighters usually get gift decisions at least once in their careers. Ironically the only truly undefeated champ today is Calzaghe. his record has no tarnish whatsoever, no close fights that could have gone either way etc.
Yes Mayweather really did win

That was close but no way it was a gift decisionOriginally Posted by hitmanhatton
Gift decision = Sven Ottke over Byron Mitchell
While I think Castillo's pressure fighting was slightly more effective, I could see how the judges would score otherwise, just a close fight.
To be fair if Castillo got the decision i think there would be just as much uproar, tricky one.
Un like Harold Leatherman I gave the first four rounds to PBF and I still had Castillo wining the descision by like 3 points I dont quite remember. But it was a close fight and I could see how Mayweather got the decision. Although by my card Castillo defenatly won.

Castillo won the fight, its no secret amongst hardcore boxing fans and non-maywhether fans. Floyd is vulnerable to a good pressure fighter, that is why it gives hope to Hatton fans. Me though, I can't decide who I dislike more, Hatton or Floyd, or OSCAR...

yeah, it was a close and competative fight, and castillo probably did enough to get the w. I think that it was the worst performance of PBF's career, everyone has offnights, and he proved that in the rematch. If they did it for a third time, Floyd would win again. I dont think it is fair to say Floyd has problems against pressure fighters off of this one performance, because he has beaten several good pressure fighters.

Castillo definitely shaded the first fight, though Floyd deserved the rematch although ironically the scoring was closer second time around.
Never actually seen the Calzaghe Reid fight but I remember it being a little controversial.
Well Jesus Chavez and Gatti off the top of my head. Corrales and N'dou too somewhat, although they are very different from Castillo and Hatton.Originally Posted by Hulk
Corrales isn't a true pressure fighter, but fair enough. Chavez...eh...I didn't see the fight, but he is mostly a pressure fighter. Gatti was a pressure fighter but did not use pressure to fight Floyd, he stayed out in the center of the ring and paid for it dearly.Originally Posted by bgordon

I mentioned Corrales because he did try to stalk Floyd and beat him with pressure and Floyd caught him coming in every time. Floyd fought that entire match moving backwards or against the ropes. N'Dou kept putting PBF on the ropes and then couldnt do a damn thing against Floyd's brilliant rope-a-dope. True that Gatti didnt use pressure against Floyd, he seemed afraid to.. My point is Floyd is at his best when a bigger man is coming towards him, and aside from the worst performance of his career, has shown no problems being backed up by a stronger opponent.
