I heard that... completely ridiculous!
Jackie Chan is "only" getting 15 million for Rush Hour 3, and he is the main star in my opinion. Also, Tucker is not an A-list actor by any means! How the hell did New Line bow to his demands!? Maybe Chan is getting a slice of the profits... don't know for sure though. I hope he is. He has earned the right do make the big bucks... but Tucker though...![]()
Maybe not so ridiculous when you think about it, but maybe even foolish on the part of Jackie Chan and his agent. Jackie obviously negotiated first, and since you can't have a Rush Hour without one or the other, Tucker had all the leverage to say if you don't give me this, there's no movie. But both of them deserve the money because Rush Hour 2 is the highest grossing comedy of all time, and the first two combined have grossed more than $600 million world wide, so since the 3rd will most likely be a cash cow as well, you can't blame the guy, who by the way has top billing, for asking for his share.
It's not even the amount that Tucker is getting that bothers me, it is the fact that he is earning more than Chan who has given infinitely more to the movie world, is much more highly respected and is a much bigger star.
Think of it this way, if Batman and Robin were actors, it would be like Robin earning more per movie than Batman, haha. :P
I mean, Tucker isn't even that well known, at least not over here anyway. Taking Chan out of the movie would hurt it more at the box office than if they took Tucker out. Like I said though, maybe Chan is getting a share of the profits which would probably net him a lot more.
tucker deserves it for making me laugh so much in the 1st 2 imo
quality acting
I'm the real pretty boy
I just read that Jackie Chan has all the film rights to Rush Hour 3 in Asia. That means that if it is around the same as the previous two in terms of box office sales, he will stand to make about $50 million.
Tucker has settled for $25 million flat with no share of the profits... not that he is complaining I'm sure, haha.
