I hope Holyfield gets embarrassed but not injured and decides to stay out of the ring forever purely for his health.

He was a great boxer but he is passed it and it is already affecting his health. I hope he doesn't get a license, but I think he needs a good beating to actually make him realise he is done.

People may think this is negative, but if he wins he will move on to bigger and harder fights until he really really hurts himself,

He already has by toney and by lary donald. I was actually felt bad watching his fight with Donald, donald is B class fighter and in his prime Evander would have wiped the mat with him
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

Your right, Holyfield is way too washed up to be a factor in the division... but I think he could beat Louis who has been dead for so many years prime for prime I would pick Holyfield but it's not really fair because fighters of Louis time simply weren't as good as a whole, compared to recent athletes.

No way would Louis beat Prime Holyfied... NO WAY. If Foreman and Tyson couldn't knock HOlyfield out then Louis isn't scratching him. Holyfield is more skilled, and more powerful.

Louis would probably be a couple of inches taller and 225-230lbs if he was a modern era fighter. Look at Holyfeild: a very short 6'2" and a natural cruiser who bodybuilt his way to heavyweight.

Louis was an accurate combination puncher like Evander with a better jab and more power. If Moorer and Cooper amd ancient versions of Foreman and Holmes can be competitive against a "prime' Holyfield, Lous would handle him IMO. Probably stop him because of Evander's heart for a brawl.

It doesn't matter what Louis would be like nowadays... we don't know. Holyfield now definitely would have beaten Louis of then.

Tyson when he fought Holyfield would have slaughtered Louis... same with Foreman. IMO Foreman was probably stronger when he came back because he had more weight behind the punches... even he said he pretty much had the same power as when he was young, and he hit Holyfield cleanly a few times prime or not prime and Holyfield took them well.

i don't think joe louis would have beat a prime holyfield, as to him knocking evander out no way, the real deal couldn't be ko'd in his prime not even if you used chloroform on him

the real deal would win by UD

Holyfield due to superior training methods...he would tire Louis and then take him out.....I think todays fighters are bigger, stronger, faster....you don't think the Green Bay Packers SB 1could hang with the Pittsburg Steelers of SB 41? They would get destroyed....just like fighters from the past if they fought fighters of today....in the Heavyweight division esp....

I'd take Evander in a SD...it would be a barn burner...the real catch is it a 15 rounder or 12 rounder. I've always felt that the extra weight Holy put on to be a HW adversely affected his stamina and caused him to tire in the late rounds and only fight in spurts(especially post Bowe)...so if its 12 I take Evander if its 15 I lean towards Joe

Just as long as no-one is suggesting that Evander was a better fighter than Louis. That's like saying Sergei Likyovic is better than Ali was. Evander was a great fighter for his skills, heart and ability to fight above his natural weight and win.

The early part of his so-called prime as a heavy included lackluster wins over old versions of Holmes and Foreman, Losses to Moorer and Bowe and struggles with fringe contenders like Birt Cooper. He wasn't a particularly well regarded champ in the eyes of fans or pundits until he beat Tyson. The Tyson victory spoke volumes about the strength of Holyfeild's character and refusal to be intimidated, but chances these things were the keys to his win, rather than his skills which may already have been in decline. Declining skills (rather than a reluctance to accept the deserved victory of a British heavyweight) were cited as the reason for Evander's difficulties with Lewis not long after.

Depending on who you talk to, either Louis or ALI is the best heavy of all time. IMO Holyfield wasn't as good a fighter as Holmes who is behind Louis in my book
