Thread: Ive got James Toney Sparring on DVD,dont know the opponent...

I wouldnt normally ask but he was giving this bloke some serious verbals (not unusual for him i know). It looked like Jeff Fenech was in the white opponents corner. Toney was pissed off that this guy had called him out, was calling him a paper champion and bbeeeeaacchh all the time. To be honest Toney wasnt really sparring that great very lazy but each time he got 1 half decent punch in the crowd would wooop like he just won the national lottery.

Just interested if anybodys got this sparring session as well and knows the opponent ?

I read an article about Toney sparring and shouting at his partner when he was 'training' for Rahman...

He was upset because this guy who must of had about a foot on him wouldn't come and fight him on teh inside... I thought... is it any wonder that Toney couldn't be Rahman? He's not gonna beat these tall guys because he is relying on them coming forwards and fighting his fight... which isn't going to happen Toney...

Toney will have to learn to chase, move and work to do anything at heavy weight... not talk smack to sparring opponents trying to box him how a decent heavy would.

Toney was basically taking the piss with him, it looked like man against boy, novice against professional, Toney was taking everything Green had, and basically laughing at him.

green actaully hit toney in the head guard a tonne that session but it didnt hurt toney at all

At this late stage in his career...I'm starting to enjoy watching Toney box...it's the closest thing to majic on the planet...I mean...how many people can say that they've actually seen a fat pig lace up boxing gloves, stand up on two legs, & curse at a boxer.
