Yep, heard this on FNF tonight too. Bell was commentating the Dale Brown fight. And announced he was gonna fight Byrd, then Teddy tried to belittle Byrd and tell how much he has declined and what not and Bell looked a little irritated and said it would still be a good fight. Bell is cool, ya gotta like a guy who says the fight doesn't start till he gets knocked down. But this is a dumb move fightin Byrd IMO, less Byrd's chin was totally ruined by Wlad Klit, which I doubt. Byrd will not only make him look foolish but probably KO him if they fight. He is elusive, used to gettin hit a whole lot harder than Bell can bang, and all round a better boxer than Bell. Plus his power will be solid against Bell.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
I don't know about KOing but he could pull it off.Originally Posted by Hulk

I have always thought the Cruiserweight division could and should have been ruled by BYRD to this day!!!! Byrd will beat Bell......This is Byrd's turf.......no one will beat Byrd at CW....Originally Posted by Hulk
It feels good to be back home.
At least for a year or two, Byrd isn't getting any younger at 37 and relies on speed, which is the first to go.Originally Posted by bigragu

I have been waiting to see Bell get rang since he beat down Mormeck.
I think it's Byrd's only choice if he wants to maintain his supposed greatness. Byrd is on the short list of boxers I dislike, but I see him winning this one.
I'm not a big fan of the Cruiserweights but I think Byrd will suit the division as long as he has his spped plus he should theoretically be able to take the punches of these lighter men so who knows....
This is actually one of the match-ups I had been hoping for and that I said would be entertaining on a previous thread.
Honestly...this will be a damned fine fight.
Byrd could & should dominate the Cruiser weight division...I know that everyone's gonna chuckle at that...but I will go to the grave saying that Byrd was one of the better fighters of the last 10 years...he was just in the wrong weight class.
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
The severely underrated Bell will stop the fading Byrd. Evan at Cruiser Byrd won't be a heavy hitter.
I feel that by shedding some of those pounds, he will get some of his speed back and then he should be able to beat Bell.
IMO this fight is anything but a foregone conclusion.
The last Heavyweight contender of note to move down to Cruiser was Orlin Norris. Like Byrd, Norris was a small Heavyweight who many felt stepping down to Cruiser would boost his career.
Norris did win a piece of alphabet crap, but he failed to dominate the division, and I remember he finished in the division with a very scary KO defeat to Nate Miller on a Benn undercard.
I do not see Byrd having it easy at 200lbs...
Chris Rapid Fire Byrd would be a good Cruiserweight but I don't know if he'll beat Bell. He should beat Bell, but then again Dale Brown should have won on Friday but he didn't. Anything can happen in boxing. Byrd should win but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.
