    Default Steelie vs USA

I got back off my tour of the US yesterday.

    There were some marked differences.

For example, on the first afternoon in a pizza parlour, whilst ordering Pizza:

Steelie : 'Excuse me mate, can I have a slice of that pizza just there please...cheers'.

Native Noo Yoiker : 'Hey buddy!!' ' I'll take one of those and one of those' ((points to a pepperoni pizza and sommat else and just carries on a conversation with his Mrs, not even acknowledging the guy when he gets his pizza))

Now at the time, I thought 'wanker' but it turns out everyone's like that. No one takes it offensively. In the UK he'd be taken out the back and buggered with a hot Calzone. But, try as I might, I couldn't drop please and thankyou. I came to the conclusion I must sound like I've walked off the set of a Ruchard Curtis movie...

Also, why is it everything cost's half the price but they give you twice as much...and breakfast...my god do you guys love eggs!! 'cept the eggs don't just come with eggs...they come with a side of bacon, sausages, hash brown, coffee, pancakes and free refills!!

The food was awesome. Waffles rock

Miami Heat winning the playoffs was also on every channel 24 hrs a day...that's when they didn't go to a break. I really dunno how you guys cope with it. It's like the TV show is incidental. FFS, it took me over two hours fifteen minutes to watch Dirty Dancing

All that said, I love the place. New York, Vegas, Florida Keys...I'd recommend any of 'em 10 times out of ten.

    Brad, Lyle, M_D...I salute you

    Hahahahaha!!!

    Thanks S
I'm glad you got to experience some cool stuff.
    Like waffles.
(which you MUST experience with a slathering glob of peanut butter on the edge of the plate for dipping purposes)
And also, TBH... if I were in New York, I'd feel as much a foreigner as you did!
    Places are different.

Lyle said you should have tried the fried road-kill marsupial.
We don't dine upon that in the_Ohio, but Ive heard it is popular down south.

    back @ cha.

I guess that will teach me not to take waffles for granted.

I love Vegas Steelie....Disneyland my arse, Vegas is the Happiest Place on Earth for the ol M_D

As far as the NYC, you are right they were downright rude. I think the best service in the world, of course I have only been to four countries and only 6 states, is in California.

They treat you real nice. BUT not in the NYC. The old M_D was there only about two weeks prior to 9-11-2001. I went into a store to buy some water and sodars. The clerk was a sista who just stared at me. Mind you I am used to people saying "May I help You"
this chick, just stared at me. Did not say a word. I put my stuff on the counter for her to ring up and she was "Mad_Dogging" me. Just staring. Apparently I put my stuff on the wrong register and I needed to bring it over to where she was. I am supposed to know!!!

anyhoo, throughout the entire transaction, she did not say a word. I wasnt use to this. In Cali people smile all over the place.

did you make it to Little Italy in NYC? Man, the food in NYC was freaking amazing especially in Little Italy. I loved it there. I would not want to live there but I liked it a lot. Never been to Florida. I plan to later this year though, either there or Seattle. I have not made up my mind. But since I only live about 300 miles from Vegas, I go there several times a year.!!

Steelie this should teach you #1) NEVER VISIT THE NORTH! #2) The more NYC changes the more it stays the same #3) We have HELLA better food down south (as long as you like stuff fried and that isn't healthy for you)

2ndRound, San Fran-sissy-co "is more of a European city than an American city"....beware the SMUG!

Also if foreigners like waffles that much it shows you just how great our nation is!

GOD BLESS AMERICA! LAND THAT I LOOOOOOOVE....everybody!

M_D... Don't bother going to Seattle.
I heard that Frasier Crane is only a character on a sit com.
    No reason to go there.
The Stratosphere is better than the Space Needle anyway.

No way. Not European at all

And the weather here is PERFECT. It's NOT perfect in Seattle. Had a friend who went there the other week and she said it just rained out of nowhere everyday. I would take Florida over Seattle. But I have a cousin who works at the coldstone in Seattle. Just incase that factors into your decision.
