Eubanks lost his first fight in under one minute at a club show in Brooklyn in July 1984 at 165 pounds (the rest of his amateur bouts took place at 156 pounds) when he stepped in as a late replacement and was stopped on his feet, that same summer he won four qualifying fights for the Spanish Gloves and his first two fights at the Empire Games, that was followed by by two more wins for the New York youth belt and Spanish Gloves title before losing in the next round of the Empire Games. He then lost as a late replacement at a club show in Long Island against the number one ranked in NY. He won the Metro Championships in the fall of 1984 and after two decisions and one bye he found himself at Madison Square Garden in March 1985 for the Daily News Golden Gloves semi-final at open-class level - which he lost. He lost his New York youth belt two weeks later in his backyard of the Jerome gym, but regained it and lost it again at club shows in Long Island and Manhatton in July 1985, at this stage he had 21 fights and 15 wins. He went 2-1 again at the Empire Games before winning a couple of fights at the club show in Long Island where he lost the year previous, he then quickly turned professional to pay the phone bill of his high school, Morris Park. His finished with an amateur record of 19-7 by all accounts, and I believe his first five bouts in the professional ranks were purely for some quick cash.

for the info. Im surprised by a 19-7 record, isnt that great at all. However, boy he was some pro!
