Default Why the Hell is Urkal the WBA number 1 ranked fighter??

Just having a look on boxrec, his last fight was an 8 round close decision against some tomato can who has had about 8 fights and lost half of them i think?

Urkal is to old why the hell is Hatton fighting this guy? I know it's not really Hattons fault it's his mandatory, but come on he is probably not even in the top 20, Hatton should be lining up fighters who will mimic future fighters he wants to face like Cotto or Mayweather, Urkal is an old man looking for one last pay day, i would be suprised if HBO are intrested in this fight, but i also have a small feeling that Ricky is waiting for the winner of Baldomir v Gatti for the end of the year that would make much more sense.

Hatton is getting caught up in the paper titles. Everyone think the titles give them leverage for big fights but the reality is, when your name is as big as Hatton's and PBF's, paper belts dont mean anything.

But you don't see anyone coming out and saying ricky i want you next; not as if gatti has said something along the lines of he will figt hatton if he beats Baldomir, there has been enough time for cotto to say he wants him, judah etc.. the hattons have been stalling on this urkal deal since the WBA said he hada fight him next if he wants the belt. The impression that give me was hatton would rather vacate it if it might fighting a better boxer, he went to the JLC v DC 'fight' shame a bit to much of JLC did.. but that fell through so fighting JLC anytime soon seems a no no.

Maybe hatton needs to stop being a 'nice guy' come out say i want such and such person next and im gunna knock them out!

Ricky Hatton is foolish to take this fight. It does nothing for his legacy and who actually cares about the paper title? He needs to beat Collazo convincingly, answer the questions asked. And if for some reason,he cannot take the Collazo fight,Margarito has called him a couple of times too.

Theres much bigger and better fights for Hatton (not fuckin Urkal mind ) to make than giving a rematch to a guy that stylewise is your worst nightmare.

Not every CLOSE fight warrants a rematch, however unfair it may seem

Not every close match deserves a rematch, that is indeed true but when you say you are going to give the guy rematch, when the guy gave you a title shot and is willing to come to your backyard to fight, then it warrants a rematch. To put the exclamation mark at the end, rather than fight Collazo for all the above mentioned factors,he is fighting Urkal........ The collazo fight or indeed, any other decent fight @147 would add to Hatton's legacy, this fight would not....

It hasn't been confirmed Hatton is fighting Urkal yet, has it?

Surely theirs a string of big names people would sooner see Hatton face than a rematch with Collazo?

And at the end of the day I'm sure Collazo is grateful to Hatton for putting him on the map whether he gets a rematch or not.

The Hatton fight is practically confirmed I think, although WBA has set a deadline for him to reply if he hasn't yet. Hatton-Collazo would answer questions Collazo raised about the Hitman@147 especially when he had him out on his feet.I'd like to see Hatton against Quintana or Williams because guys like Gatti and Baldomir are booked but it won't happen. I'd really like to see Margarito fight Hatton but Hatton wouldn't dare fight the Tijuana Tornado.
And not really bro,Collazo thought he won,is certain he can win a rematch and wants his title back otherwise he is too high risk for the big players so I don't think he's that grateful!

Well at least Collazos stock has gone up and people actually know who he is.

Maybe for the reasons you state it would be wiser for Hatton to answer the questions Collazo raised against some other guys

Naa,I'd rather see Hatton fight and beat Collazo convincingly and like i said, there are not that many more option open to him. I think Margarito should call out Hatton more,Hatton is in a bit of a corner at the moment,I don't really see any big fights lined up for him!

No kidding brother ,the ranking system of the sanctioning bodies is corrupt, I think they put the names of all the fighters in each division in hat, and draw names ! seriously, its that fuked ! If your promoter pays enough money you can get a title shot ! corruption at the highest levels ! This sport is dying because of the system, we need conformity, unity, we need real policing of the system, then this sport thrives !
