Thread: Williams made no.1 contender

Danny Williams has been made number1 contender for the British heavyweight title,which is held by Scott Gammer.
This is a bit of a come down for Williams who has challenged for a world championship and was on the verge of another crack at the world stage till he blow his chance and lost to Skelton.

This will be a step up in class for Gammer but i hope he will take his chance and finaly send DW into retirement!

i dont williams should have crack at any sort of title after that disgraceful performance to be honest

how come? it looked to me like danny got his tactics wrong imo.he expected skelton to come for a fight not a boxing match that is why he was so heavy imo. but i do agree he was decgracful in that fight i thought he was going to win imo. i think that he can handle gammer and i personally think he carrer is going downhill now but why shouldn't he challenge for the title? he knows he had a bad performance and he knows he wont be able to stick it out at world level so good on him if he wins this title because i personally think he wont be going much higher than the british stages. but i would like to see him have a crack at the euro title.

i dont think hes bad fighter when hes 100 percent is quite decent fighter but in that fight he looked horrible

Danny Willaims is really sliding. He had great potential when he was young but god only knows what happened to that!

To be honest, I think this is a good opportunity for both of these guys. For Scott, who was impressive in beating Krence for the title, I think he has a big chance to beat a top name in British HW boxing for the past few years (not that we've had too many since our canadian boy lennox quit), and a chance to show that he's got what it takes to step up to european level. For Danny, he's not going to have too many chances at any sort of title now, so it is a last shot at glory for him.

Personally, if Danny comes in at the same weight he did last time out, Gammer, who is much more of a mover then Skelton, he'll dance around him and cruise to victory. He could well knock him out as well, as he's got a lot of power behind his punches, and even though he'd probably give away 30-40lbs to Danny, he could still catch him with a lot of big shots.
As for Danny, he comes in at a reasonable weight, with stamina and shows some guts, he's always got the power in there to knock anyone out, it's just a matter of catching him on the chin, and if he can, then it could go the other way.

If i'm pushed, I'd have Scott with a late KO.
