    Morales fuming at Roach!

    Tuesday, July 18 2006

It's not easy to get three-time world champion Erik "El Terrible" Morales to respond to words spoken outside a ring, but the Mexican icon is not pleased about comments trainer Freddie Roach made about him while in the Philippines earlier this month. Roach called Morales a loud-mouth, nasty guy, who has no respect for Manny Pacquiao and the Filipino people. "I respect all fans and it is insulting to me that Roach wants to put words in my mouth that I have never spoken," said Morales. "If he can't wait to see Manny try to beat me again, just tell him that Nov 18 will be here soon enough. In the meantime, he should stay out of my business and get his guy ready for another war." Erik Morales also had much more to say.

I hope this is a kick up the backside to Morales and hopefully it will motivate him to train hard and beat Pac!!

    ..."get ready for another war"?!

Which war was that? The one where Pacquiao nearly put Morales in a coma?

Now I love(d) Morales but it's sad to see another great potentially affecting their legacy by carrying on too long. The baton was passed in their last fight and Pacquiao will be far too strong again. Maybe i'll be proved wrong. But somehow I doubt it.

    Pacquiao KO rounds 8-10.

It's amazing to see how people have forgotten Morales' masterful performance against Pacman during their first fight. I think that was the "war" he was referring to.

True, Erik did get knocked out during his last fight with Manny, but IMO Erik's drop from the lightweight division really affected that.

Anyway, Morales-Pacquiao III should be a good fight regardless of all this hoopla going on.

I haven't forgotten his masterful performance but it was clear to me that Pacquiao's performance was massively hindered by the cuts he received. I didn't buy all that rhetoric about the gloves they were using, but it was still a very competitive fight and maybe Morales's last great performance. However, for Morales to conveniently neglect to recognise the nature of the second fight hints at delusion. I understand a boxer has to talk themselves up but I do fear he will get a similar kind of beating when they are next up. I would take on board that the drop in weight could possibly had an affect on Morales but even so he looked a shadow of the fighter he once was.

Watch me get proved wrong when the great Morales cements his place in history with a(nother) career defining win!

I give Pac the edge in this fight, however i find it so hard to back against a warrior like Morales coz he is just tough as nails.

What Morales shouyld have done is take a warm up against a fringe contender of teh Raheem standard so we can see if he has anything left . Going into this fight it looks as if he is washed up so if he wins it will make Pac look useless .

Pac IMO is very good but abit over rated . He has had mixed performances recently and even if he beats Erik again people will say that Erik was already finished and you cant argue with that

I'm back! Hey, Mr. Game my friend with the big 'The,' what do you think, I think you know more than anyone else in this site about Erik, and I've heard and read many things, kinda little brash, he said after his loss to Pac; does he really mean them? Or does he always speak that way? And when he says 'I'm gonna beat him the next time around,' as for sure, does he really go on doing just that or at least give a good performance? It's just that he seem so confident (or over-confident) that worries us (good for you!) us Pac-fan(atics).

Any logical boxing fan would tell you that Pac has a big advantage going into the fight, but for people who love blood and guts, heart and determination, will and emotion you are voting for Morales in this fight. He has gas left in the tank, but not as much as he once had of course. After Pacs demolition of MAB and other brilliant performances very few people gave Eric the chance to beat Pac, he proved everyone wrong with a brilliant performance and left you to think never to underestimate the heart of a champion. Sure Pac redeemed himself but the way we are looking at the third fight is the same way we were looking at the first one. 70% percent chance Pac wins this fight but Eric has a good chance and don't let anyone tell you different.

Hey my pacfan bro, there are bigger Erik fans here but I'd like to think I was one of the biggest.Of course he does not mean them, alot of those remarks came soon after the fight and of course, hindsight is a beautiful thing and this is the truth from Erik. Of course he respects Pacquioa but I really really hope Roach opens his mouth more,it will get El Terrible even more fired up!!! It's like a teacher telling you,you are going to fail, and you work your ass off just to prove him wrongmI hope EM shuts Raoch's mouth!!
I honestly honestly hope Erik is training super hard and maybe more importantly, this rst may help him more than anything,I mean look at his last fights:MAB,Chavez,Pac twice,Raheem and all that boucning around in weight!!

In that case, I'll tell Roach to shut up (very gently and respecfully - you know how it is, we Pacfans adore the guy)! I'm little relieved by what you said. I've given the fight 60-40 in Pac's favor, but if you'd answered that Erik really meant those things he said, I'd given the fight 50 even. But still, never underestimate the Elllll Terriiiiibleee!!!

This fight will come down to how good a shape Eric is in and what his fightplan is. If Morales comes into this fight with an all out brawl mentality...he very well can wear down and get knocked out (Pac is just younger and fresher). If he fights with controlled agrression he has an excellent shot at winning. Pac is a tremendous athlete, but he is still far from being a complete fighter. Regardless of the outcome...it should be an exciting fight. I just think Eric has enough left in the tank to make it competive fight and potentially win.

LOL,I meant that Erik did not mean the bad things Roach has been saying about him but I think he does meant it when he says he is going to win!!!Here's hoping but no way could I put the fight@50-50 and not just that but I think Erik should fight some a low level fighter just to get his confidence back up.

Yea have another CC that's a really good post and I agree completely.. Even in the second fight where Morales is supposedly finished he was able to give Manny all hell by boxing him and using his jab in the early rounds, people are too quick to lable it a bad loss instead of the very competitive fight which it was, at least for the first 6 rounds... I think Morales is definetly the better skilled fighter, it's just that he doesn't fight like it or think of himself as such.. But he is, and against Pac his best shot is definetly to box him and use his jab constantly... As soon as he stopped using the jab in the 2nd fight PAc took it to him non stop.. Whether he has the legs to box and move anymore is the question, but IF(huge if) he is conditioned to go 12 rounds, I would still have him as the favourite..
