Just out of interest really. How much would you say you all spend on boxing per month. Training, equipment, travel etc. How much will places charge per session to train?

I'll give you my costs in a week

    Training
Our boxinggym is really cheap. The costs are 5 euro's a week (that's about 4 dollars), no matter if you only come once or if you come everyday. The week runs from monday to friday. If you don't come for a week, you don't have to pay anything. The runningtraining on sunday in the dunes is free of charge. The fee is for any kind of training (recreation or fight)

    Travel
I train three days a week at the gym which is a 8 km drive from my work. So in a week it probably costs me about 7 or 8 euro's (gascosts here (netherlands) are about 1,5 euro per liter )

    Other
the annual fee to our national bond is 20 euro (about 16 dollars) and a matchlicence is 17,5 euro (about 14 dollars) which you only have to pay once. At our gym we don't have to pay for matches, the gym does that. Also travel to the matches is organized, that means, we ride along with the trainers so we arrive rested. Gloves, mathcclothes (exept your own sneakers) and headgear are also provided by the gym.

Boxinggloves (leather) for training (we normaly use 14oz) are about 70 euro (56 dollars) and a mouthpeace is 3 euro (2,5 dollars). A custom made mouthpeace which i have, costed 220 euro's (176 dollars). we use normal trainingtrousers and shirts available anywhere. For sparring we use 18oz gloves which are also provided by the gym.

offcourse everyone is free to buy there own equipment to use insteed of those provided by the gym, but just a few do so.

    Well, those are my costs.

I agree with killerqueen most boxing gyms are cheap...MIND you I am speaking of gyms that are strictly boxing gyms not one of those big fancy gyms that offer boxing...I own a gym upstate NY and I only charge $45 a month but you use all my equipment and either me or my partner are always there to work with the members one on one. If needed. If you are not a member and want one on one training sessions they are $30 and hour which is still fairly cheap around here.....
if you get your own gear and that ( Gloves $35, Head gear $50, Cup $50-75, mouth piece $10 ) give or take a few bucks depending on where you get them and brand you are set up with all you need there for under $200 and have them where ever you go...When you talk about travel and other things thats a different story...but the basics are cheap enough

£1.50 for hour and a half, all you need is there (some of it a little manky) but it all works.
