Default Briggs vows to KO Lyakhovich!

    Briggs vows to KO Lyakhovich!

Heavyweight contender Shannon Briggs says he's tired of hearing about now former WBC champ Hasim Rahman was "America's Last Line of Defense." Briggs (47-4-1, 41 KOs) has promised that he'll knock out WBO Sergei Liakhovich on November 4. "Then I intend to knock out Oleg Maskaev (WBC), Nikolai Valuev (WBA) and Wladimir Klitschko (IBF) and take back all the heavyweight championships of the world," states Briggs.

Hmmm, he can if they would stand still and take his shots. But if Briggs can come down to his competitive weight 2 of 4 (Lyakhovich, Maskaev) IMO he can win by KO Briggs style. He has chances against the other 2 but it would be extremely hard.

Maybe if he weren't so bloated he could catch them instead of hoping they'd stand still.

Right On! He was fast and very unforgiving when he threw his punches mid - late 90's if he can at least regain 80% of that Briggs i'll give him a shot against any of these guys, Chin's still a suspect though. But after watching the Lennox fight he was elusive and you Lennox was very precise with his punching and Briggs had eluded them for quite a while.

Total pick em fight imo, I think Briggs is a pretty solid fighter and the better of the two, aside from his stamina issues, he probably does need to come in lighter to be his best but with his size he has a very good chance to KO Lyakovich early imo, I guess we'll see if his chin is as good as it looked too, I think Briggs is a hell of a better puncher and boxer than Lamon Brewster.

Briggs comes in at 230 I will pick him. Roger should really not let him come in so heavy, Roger needs to get in his ass and pull out some of that fat.

Briggs hasn't been 230 since 2001, he was 270 his last fight...no chance he even comes in at 250. He wears down and Sergei only gets stronger as the fight goes on.

270? Man thats a stone heavier than Sam Peter was against Toney.

These heavies really have let themselves go.

yeah I mean when he fought Mercer at 257 and then Scott at 253 I thought "wow he's really getting serious he should be 240 soon" But since then he's only gone up and lost his elusiveness and it doesn't make sense. He's not going to blow Sergei away with power, Brewster would have done that!! Briggs needs a plan B and he isnt going to have one if the weight isn't down.

It shows that lately American heavyweights are trained to talk a lot. 4 champions are Russians. And they don't even say much. Maskaev did not say anything and Rahman was grabbing his legs )

I've read this interview with Briggs and all he did was crying and saying how everybody said bad things about him. If he becaomes a champ it's another for blow for HW devision.

But I think Sergei will take him out in late rounds. Briggs won't be able to take same punishment as Brewster.

Yeah and if he comes in with a gun I'd pick him too

ROGER is not his trainer, it's JEFF MAYWEATHER!!!

I think Lyakovich is going to beat on him! He is very strong, has great determination, power and a great chin.

I've only seen Lyakhovich against Brewster(great fight by the way) and I don't think Briggs will knock
him out. L. has a great chin and I doubt that Briggs is a bigger puncher than Brewster...
If Briggs comes in as heavy as in his last fight against Koval, he may look better in the first 3 or 4 rnds,
then L. will take over and either ko Briggs or win by points...
If Briggs looses some wait(or maybe better a lot) this might get a pretty competitive fight...

His right hand to the body is his best weapon but it leaves him open. And i don't think his chin is that spectacular watching Maurice Harris blast him away. His chin sustained him against Brewster though.
