Witter knew that a loss at that stage of his career would all but end his title ambitions and a fight with COTTO, especially on short notice is a HUGE RISK

witter turned cotto down because he probably doesnt want to jepordize a u.k. mega fight with hatton.
cotto would put a beat down on witter (espically at 147, if thats where it happened)

For some reason I've always thought Witter could beat Cotto, maybe cause I haven't seen some of his fights where he was supposed to look average.

Just styles wise I think he matches up well, Cotto's better when he can use his countering skills, when he has to come after a fighter, which he definitely would against Witter, he tends to get a bit reckless, and Witter can punch, and is incredibly akward. I think Hatton beats Witter though.

haha made me chuckle... dont think witters style is as good as some people believe it is... its awkward.. but i dont think that alone makes it so he can hang with the best out there...
cotto would get a nice decision i think.
plus cotto is moving up to 147 any way...
also i do think the wbc title is the one to have too!! but thats not good news for witter thats bad bad news... cos everyone will be coming for his title and i dont think he can hang with the big boys... but then again a few people are changin wieght here and there so he might be safe for a 'short' while.. :P

it would be a great match up that I would have trouble calling. I see Witter as Paulie with more power. He would definetely make Cotto think if he caught him walking in. I do think Witter may have the style to beat him. But Cotto is a talented fighter and there is noway that Witter should take him on at short-notice. You can't blame Witter for refusing that, would you expect any other top fighter to take on Cotto at short notice?

Because he learned his lesson about coming into fights in short notice(Judah) And he was smart. If he's gonna fight Cotto it would be after he has fully prepared and had a full training camp Now he WANTS to fight Cotto...but will Cotto fight him?

True! He was offered the fight but was no1 contender for the WBC at the time, There was no need to risk losing that as it has took him the past 6 years to get to that position after taking the short notice fight against judah and then fooking it all up by running round the ring for 36 minutes.
