Default Guzman needs to make his move now

I thought he was very very good against Barrios.

Sure a good boxer/counter puncher is the style to beat Barrios but you don't beat a guy like Barrios if you're not a good fighter. And I was really impressed cause while I wouldn't say he completely dominated him, he clearly was the better fighter.

But what's surprising about Guzman is that he's already 30 years old. I mean Pac, even though he seems like he's been around for a while, is only 27, I don't know how much punishment he's taken over his career but its hard to tell how long he'll be in his prime physically so he needs to find big fights in the very near future. Plus the lower weight guys tend, not always, but tend to have a shorter career length.

I don't think the big three will fight him any time within the next year but 130's very deep: Soto, Valero, Juarez, maybe even JMM in the near future. Fights with Valero or Soto would be fine for his next one: Soto's the harder fight IMO, I think he handles Valero as long as he doesn't get reckless but I think he could beat both. Beat Valero and he's got the WBA to go with the WBO and then maybe get a fight with Pac. But he's surprisingly old considering he's just now getting big time exposure so he really shouldn't waste time.

This is what I posted on another thread and my thoughts on Guzman.

The Barrios-Guzman fight was insane I love how Guzman work to the body and and just stand there to trade. Barrios never went down which says a lot about Barrios, His heart was there but Guzman was much stronger and worked more efficent through out the night. I personally DONT think a rematch should happen, Guzman should move on to other names out there Humberto Soto, Alex Arthur, Oscar Larios, Gary St. Clair, Robbie Peden. Theres plenty out there for him to fight.

    I'd like to see Soto-Guzman.

Two best guys that are not one of the three big names IMO.

Or Valero, which is a fight I think he'd look very good in. If I'm Valero's management that's one fight I wouldn't be desperate to make.

Age can be misleading, sometimes how much punishment you've taken is more important, like a Pac who's probably an old 27 cause of how long he's been fighting and all the shots he's taken. But, still was surprised to see he was that old.

Excellent analysis from 2 of the more knowledgeable brothers here. I think, taking into account Guzman's age and the fact that he seems to have ALOT of skill,he should be pushing hard for the big fights. I like Soto ALOT and I think he is 1 tough hombre but Guzman's skills were awesome! I couldn't believe he was 30,he certainly does not look it! I think I would favour Soto though, his straighter punches, his great chin,I'm a big fan of that guy.
