i know this isnt to do with training as such but how do you score a bout? is it the one with who landed more shots gets 10 and the other gets 9?.

say you get an average round nothing special but its obvious who won the round..
that makes a 10-9 round
one knockdown for a fighter makes a 10-8 round
two knockdowns make a 10-7 round
more then that doesnt usually make much difference as most major judges wont score more then a 10-7 round as it puts the opponent too far behind...
sometimes the 3 knockdown rule is in affect and the fight is stopped after 3 knockdowns..sometimes not
but mainly if someone is getting theyr ass beat and is dropped more then three times the fight should be stopped... the only time ive seen fights that have reached four or five knockdowns is in fights where the knockdowns were not hurting punches but the fighters were jus overwealmed and couldnt keep theyr ballance... much like mr khan's fights!! cept even they are stopped too early!!
hope this helps

oh and other exceptions like 10-10 or 9-9 rounds are usually either when there isnt much action and it is equal or lots of clinching etc....
or if its a major feeling out round like the first round!!
on top of this if a person is penalised for low blows headbutts etc a point is taken off the offended fighter
this is regardless of who is winning the round etc....

What are we talking about here Emma? Amatuer or Pro?
Amatuer fights are judged by simply counting punches, no one wins a round as far as the cards go. If it is even at the end of the fight it goes to the judges opinion, they have to agree on who was better over all taking into account leading off, style and Defence.
There are no draws...![]()
adam answer my question on my thread!!!!! :P

Here in the netherlands draws are possibleOriginally Posted by AdamGB
Over here they do count rounds, and rate that against the overall look.
I believe a knockdown should be worth 3-5 points, not just 1. If it's a close fight but nothing special then a knockdown in the final round could be the highlight of the fight but the guy still loses because of the subjectivity of scoring a boring fight. Thus, the one great piece of action in the fight would win it for him instead of merely getting him one lousy point.
