Thread: Sam Peter vs James Toney TAKE TWO

So these two are supposed to fight again I heard...not sure of the date or anything but what do you guys think? Is JT gettin too fat and old or will the human milk dud put his hostess cupcake smeared hands all over Shrek Peter?

First time around I picked Peter TKO/KO 11

I would pick the same thing for the second fight

Toney is supposedly going to come in, in even better shape. So I'm picking Toney to win this fight by a landslide.

Toney already won the first fight . He'll win AGAIN.

toney won the first fight, was looking better then he previously had done and i hear hes got a number of things lined up in which he will be needing to improve his physique for and by the time the next fight comes...
im not expecting anywhere near how he looked for evander holyfield or booker but i think he'll be in fair shape...
hes got natural born talent.. you can teach a guy to fight like james toney... he could weigh 400 pounds and he could still hang with the elite, hes a natural athlete!

I am not sure Toney wants this fight. I know it sounds crazy to get into the mind of a great fighter like Toney, but Peter punches hard and Toney was hit hard and clean. In another fight whether he wins or loses, he will be hit hard again and his chin has to absorb it again. His people or he might want another route to another title shot. Not saying Toney cannot win, but what he has to endure to maybe we a close decision looks like some horrendous shots by a big legit hard punching guy.

i can honestly say if there is anyone who has never ducked a man and anyone i truely would take any fight any time anywhere on a moments notice it would be lights out toney my friend!i believe that sam may well be the hardest puncher that toney has faced... but toney has been in with the best from middleweight to heavyweight and never been stopped! and i think now that the first fight is over there is more chance of building a gameplan for a whitewash the second time.. first time he won second i expect it will be alot clearer.

Toney probably will eat a few big bombs (i think peter landed four or five actual shots that looked clean and that they had wallop in the first one) but Toney likes to eat. This is a stepping stone to his eventual goal of becoming the fattest, dumpiest heavyweight champion of all time! He will make a fool of Shrek Peter and then raid his fridge afterward. Then when he is done he will go to a Ukrainian soup kitchen and take Wladimir Klitchko's bowl of lentil soup from him and eat that too.

Look I agree Toney can beat the Maskaev guy no problem. But he has to get by Peter to fight Maskaev. I just do not know how Toney can modify what he did, he is too high in weight and he has to fight in spurts, during those spurts he gets nailed. If he could fight the whole round that would be great, but he would be out of gas at the end of the fight and take into account he is getting older quick in his late 30s. Toney likes to eat punches I dont think so.... Let's see how soon that fight is signed. I am not sure Toney wants that fight. Peter would be more eager for it than Toney, It is not that Toney is not great,but to be hit with those punches and want to get hit again. Toney is a man. He knows what he likes and doesn't like. I always remember how Marvin Hagler fought Hearns and fought him well, but he never really wanted to fight him in a rematch. Probably because he had to take the big punches again and maybe he wouldn't be as pumped up as in the first fight.

He likes to eat them. He likes to eat anything. I would bet anything he is eating right now. If the fight doesnt get signed it is just because Toney got confused and ate the contract.

Definitely would help his cause if he got in better shape though...

I really see Toney coming into this fight in around 215-225, I heard he hired a nutirionist that should help also. Toney beat Peter convincingly to me the first fight expect Toney to put on a boxing clinic this time around and if they use the open scoring for this fight I definately expect Toney to win

I'll wait for the weigh ins til I pick but if I had to choose right now I would say another close boring fight.


James should pull a Ray Leonard and flurry late in rounds to clinch them and bait Peter into fouling him which shouldn't be too hard.
