    Default Just a new boxer

hello everyone, and thanks for reading.

I'm a new boxer and just pretty much need tips on everything. I'm not really fit but, i read a post about dieting and stuff and would like to know am I right in having a high carb breaky then snacks like muesli bars and things during the day and a few multi grain sandwiches for lunch?

I'm 15 from Melbourne, Australia and I'm having trouble finding some where to take lessons and things like that, I was wondering if there are any Australians that know where i might be able to go? o should i just go to the local gym?

I've been bashing the punching bag, training my jabs and hooks, walking after i finish school, and lifting the one handed weights. Is what I'm doing right? (i know its best to walk or run in the morning but its hard at the time i need to wake up but if its what needs to be done I'll do it)

Thanks alot for reading if you have any general tips or anything like that i would greatly appreciate it.

A high carb breakfast is a good start. Try and get some protein in there too. Youve gone all night and your muscles need it.
In what way are you lifting the weights, doesnt sound like you know what your doing so it could be having a detrimental effect for now until you gain some more knowledge.
Boxing gyms tend not to advertise as heavily as martial arts gyms and such, so try walking around, you may be surprised and spot one randomly.

Try jogging now and then, maybe in the mornings. Something easy for now but itll get your body ready for when you join a gym.

with protein in my breakfast should i eat stuff like bacon with the fat trimed?

jogging is a bit hard for me im not veary fit and im a minor asthmatic, should i start off walking?
in the morrning is hard for me because i have to wake up at about 4:30 5 oclock should i do a long walk/jog after school instead?

Start off with a light jog, if your asthmatic then very light. Take your inhalers before you go and even with you just incase.
I used to be asthmatic, after all this training and such i think i have grown out of it.
Bacon is good yes, a protein shake in the morning would be better.

And the jog doesnt have to be in the morning, whenevers right for you.

    thanks alot .

with the power sets, im not sure what you call them my mate who is a bit of a gym junkie just said do these. They consist of starting with your arms at a 90 degree angle and then lifting the weights to your shoulders (7 times) then bring the weights down to your thighs and lifting the weights from your thighs to a 90 degree angle (7 times) then back down to your thighs and bring them all the way up to your shoulders (7 times) and i usally do that about 7 times through the day.

are protein shakes realy worth it? alot of my gym buddys think there just a joke.

all the help is greatly appriciated, i was raised in a polite family so i learnt from the best hopin for the smae with boxing .

do you just do one set each time? (I knwo you note you do them 7 times a day)

Its far better for your body to do one session of between 45-90 minutes than 7 separate ones, you will see a lot better results that way.

As for the protein shakes - they are an absoltue god send, dont get me wrong a good diet is important and cant be replaced by suppliments in any way, and you can easily drink skimmed milk and a few eggs instead of a shake. But im guessin your gym budies arent that serious about weightlifting or that big if they believe they are a joke. Every major athlete and millions of people world wide backed by scientific evidence points to protein being the key building block to muscler growth and effective calorie intake. and protein shakes are unsurprisingly an excellent way to get this protein!

Good luck findin a gym mate, just take it slow and build up your fitness and ull be fine.
