Thread: Boxing For Fun?

My brother and I really enjoy watching boxing on TV and such. And the sport in general.

We were at Big 5 today, we seen some gloves there and the head gear. We really want to get some.

They were Everlast I believe. As well was the head thing.

The gloves said training on them. And we tried them on they look pretty fun to just mess around with. We know nothing about the basics of boxing, so it'll most likely be bad boxing. We're not looking to beat each other up, just have some fun with it and see if we can't learn more about it.

I just wanted to know if this was a good idea. :P

Of course it is - as long as you don't do full contact.

hell yah its a good idea. me and my bro have been beating the shit out of each other for years. but i would recomend buying a punch bag between you and hammering away at that. if your just boxing for fun you would be supprised how much you could teach your self by just trying things out on the bag and watching boxing and takling points that you notice about footwork and turning your wrists and rolling your shoulders etc. there is a lot too it.

We most likely won't do full contact, but might get serious if we give a punch we both don't like

My partner and I occasionally get together and watch the Pay Per View "So you Wanna Fight." We drink beer and laugh till our guts hurt. Maybe you could sell tickets.

I have a question. When you're punching each other in the face and suddenly you knock your brother out cold (I don't remember you mentioning mouthguards) how will you feel?

Yeah, forgot about the mouthguards.....get some!
But apart from that. Scrapping with a sibling is the most fun you can have with your clothes on (although taking your clothes off gives it a nasty turn.)

If it's your sister, then yeah.

I was planning on getting a mouthguard so no worries there. We would also need to get those handwraps as well right?

We aren't planning on going full out on each other since our room isn't too big, but I'm sure when we have time to make noise (old people in house, so noise is a no-no, lol) we'll throw some pretty bad blows.
