I was told by a friend of mine that if you are a trained boxer and you happen you get into a street fight then you get extra charges and in more trouble with the cops because you are a trained boxer, is this true?

it can be yes. Here in england, if a trained boxer attacks someone and its not in self defense or any other valid reason, they are stripped of all there titles and anything else they have won.
Theres no strict definition but it is taken into consideration in the courtroom.
Well where I live instead of just getting some little assault charges u get assault with a deadly weapon. Anless like others have said u are doing it strickley in self defence but if u hit some one one time when it is unnessasary u will get in some deap shit!
Ive heard that you can be charged with more than just simple assault because you're trained to use your hands as a weapon.
I dont reckon that'd hold up in court for an amature boxer though. If you think about it, as an amature you're not trained to 'fight' your trained to 'compete' and its not until you reach pro that you 'fight'. The fact that amature contests are known as such, or as 'bouts' and not as 'fights' supports this.
This means that youd probably be able to argue that as an amature, your not a trained fighter...but a trained competitor...so your hands arnt deadly weapons afterall.
Just my few thoughts on the subject
Cheers
Always walking around with a deadly weapon hmmm..... am i gonna get a busted for carrying a concealed deadly weapon if I walk down the street with my hands in my pockets? hehhehOn the other hand, they arent gonna help me when someone comes after me with a real deadly weapon.
We're having some difficulties with the young kids in the cities agreeing to organized fighting. My club is very rural, thus, we haven't had to deal with this yet. We are aware of some boxers that have participated in it. I think a better question on this thread is what if one of your boxers is using his skills to participate and dominate illegal organized fighting?

So is this like professionally trained fighters, or someone who is kicking ass in thier home gym?
I think you have to be trained by a licensed trainer for it to even become an issue.
See, thats what I thought, having a certified license.
actually there was a significant case about this awhile ago concerning amateur boxing and fighting. A bouncer in a strip club either severly injured or killed and old man with a punch and it was taken to court. The bouncer had amateur boxing experience and it was determined that his knowledge of boxing had nothing to do with the outcome and the punch was a freak accident. Now if he would have provoked the old man and intiated the conflict it could've been a much different verdict so it boils down to this. Don't start anything but it's ok if you finish it quick without doing a lot of damage.
Gotcha.
Well, if you cant punch 'em for risk of "Asult with a deadly wepon", kick 'em in the gruin that's a good selfdefence stratagie in my mind.
And if it's a woman, then kick her in the baby?
I always believed that if you're a pro boxer you should use the triple foul combo Elbow/lowblow/headbutt and once they're on the ground you should be able to punch them because you weren't licensedly trained to fight like that.
